That's according to Bankrate's 2008 Car Guide in the USA.

Which cars would you think are the best for holding their value in the UAE?

I bet the Toyota Land Cruiser would probably top the list in the UAE!

Speaking from experience, Japanese and German cars tend to hold their value far better in North America.

American cars (for the most part) drop like a rock.

Dodge Viper should not be on the list, as there are sports cars that hold their value better.

I think the Viper is on there since they're going to stop making them. Plus there aren't that many of them so it's a bit of a rarity.

The Viper ACR is menacing.

Hyundai's and Kia's are disposable cars. They're not meant to last.

Only buy them if you will drive it into the dust yourself and have no intention of ever selling.

Between a brand new Bic lighter and a brand new Kia, I'd pick the Bic to last the longest.

I disagree. Despite higher depreciation value (5-10% more than Japanese car), had myself Tucson V6 2.7L. Very satisfied esp with it's V6 engine (no other V6 CUV/SUV comes close within this price range) and smoothness/stability running 170kph! Never had a single problem.

Yeah... like all so-called American or European cars (at least some components) are not made in China/Korea/Taiwan :D
Take a look on computers & electronics too. Barely everything now are made in China/Korea/Taiwan.

Common sence advises on a Pajero, SWB on the top of the list as the most quality/price/fuel consumption/space efficient in this area. But common sence is not the idea that is very popular here. VW Golf, Toyotas are very valued.

What about Great Wall? I thought that was a construction company for ages until I realised it was a Chinese car brand.

You get what you pay for...!!

Buying a Hundai or a Kia is throwing your money away, pure and simple!!!

If you live in Dubai then you'd know how worse American cars' depreciation is. After all, which cars have no depreciation value?
