Why so many people turn on hazard lightd in foggy weather?actualy they shouldnt

Well if you don't know why i certainly don't want to be anywhere near you when driving. Do you use your windshield wipers when it rains or do you think that isn't necessary?

maybe they've never seen fog before?

When its foggy i only turn on my fog lights to have a better look of the road.

It was originally stated on both DXB and AUH Police websites that in foggy weather you should turn your hazard lights on. I believe that this has now been removed as it is incorrect.

Also, you will notice that for the majority of cars on the road, they do not have fog lights i.e. Honda, Toyota, Nissan (euro cars have, so do some yank cars).

People are so used to doing it, that it is hard for them to get out of the habit. I bet most of them still try and use their indicators when changing lanes too with their hazrd lights on numpties

Ah, I see you don't get my humor.

Longer than you can imagine and accident free. Unfortunately drivers don't know how to adjust their driving to certain weather conditions, being fog and rain. Off topic, that goes for not using signal lights as well - any time, any where and in any weather condition. I would rather see any kind of lights when driving in the fog. At least I have a clue as to the distance between me and the car in front of me.

normally when its foggy it is advisable you drive at 40km/hr limit and be alert on whats in front of you.

even if you car dont have a foglight you can always use your high beam lights for clearer view of the roads. and besides new cards now comes with led lights, rather than the conventional ones which used bulblight.

only use hazard lights when there is a problem or in emergency.

As a professional driver for many years I would advise travelling in which ever lane you can escape the highway from. The danger comes from the rear when their is a sudden stop or slow down in the fog. Semi's running over little cars. Watch your rear view mirror and don't be scared to head for the bush if you see a problem coming. They make new cars everyday. Headlights and extra room of course. I think hazard lights are for if you are stopped and pulled over. Not while travelling. Low beam works better than highbeam in the really thick stuff.

Hazard lights are also used when you are on a major freeway and suddenly come upon conjestion to warn those behind. Unfortunately many here don't use any lights in inclement weather. in the thick stuff, high beam, low beam, flashers work for me, just give me some indication of where you are!

Portland, you should actually never use your highbeam when in fog, it makes visibulity even worse, because basically you just highlight a huge wall of fog!

In foggy weather you should always have you headlights dipped.

I hate when some drivers put hazard lights, moreover they make me nervous.

That's 100 pct right, no high beam/full headlights in heavy fog guys!
