Mumbai plot hatched in Pakistan

IS IT NOT TOO BAD TO KNOW...!!

The Mumbai attacks that killed 165 people last November were partly planned in Pakistan, a top-level Islamabad official has admitted for the first time.
New Delhi has blamed the bloody 60-hour siege on the banned Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and handed over information last month which Islamabad has been using to investigate the attacks.

"The incident happened in India and part of the conspiracy was hatched in Pakistan," interior ministry chief Rehman Malik said. It is the first time a senior official in Islamabad has admitted that any planning took place in Pakistan.

it's not right to blame pak for the attack. planning could have done anywhere as rb said. i think it's a well planned plot and many high level officials are involved.

even a prominent political figure voiced the concern about why certain high rank police officials got killed who were investigating a very big plot against minority community in which some high hindu saints and politicians are involved. later this political figure was forced to keep his mouth shut.

if i said i did it. does that mean i m telling the truth? or maybe i have been forced to say it. or maybe some1 paid me a large sum of money to admit something which i didnt do.

how exactly do you know that someone is telling the truth?

media controls everything. and suprisingly it only mentions a "top offical"? how about giving a name of this "top official"????

Thats just plain dumb and ignorant Sarah, I being a Pakistani really don't care much for the country as its headed south anyways, but when you start flinging insults at Islam that just shows how ignorant, narrow minded and small brained you are. Your implying anybody who is a muslim and has studied in a religous school is just foaming at the mouth waiting to blowup someone. It is dumb @ss people like you who increase the divide and generate hatred. Your whole post reeks of prejudice and hatred.

Just like me saying If I want to eradicate jews I'll just go get a white blue eyed blonde German. If you can't think before you speak atleast read what you write before you post it up.

Sorry for being rude, but thats just the way you come across to me.

Pakistan owned up after ample evidence was flung at their faces. The entire global community including China( Pak ally) backed India on this one. This was brilliant political strategy courtesy the Indian gov.

Not so long ago if people remember Pakistan was calling these terrorists freedom fighters. Now that Pakistan is at the recieving end, they go around begging for aid. Terrorism has proliferated thanks to Pakistan. And one day should there be WWIII it will be entirely due to Pakistan. Pakistan is a nuclear nation who's army has got their backs against the wall...A top nuclear scientist turned rogue ( AQ Khan) is roaming freely, nuclear proliferation by Pakistan will be catastropic for the rest of the world.
No matter how much you hate the US you gotta back them on this one, and hope that China gets some sense and pressurises Pakistan as well.
Peace!

Misery I'm not going totally agree with you but also won't totally disagree with you aswell.

As for the case of the freedom fighters the Mujahideen, do you forgot who intially armed and trained them, who their allies were earlier on. During the cold war era and the soviet invasion of afghanistan. Who evntually gave them power and arms and turned them into a well trained, armed and fighting force.

We all know it was US. An enemy of your enemy is your friend, with this n mind they backed and totally supported the Mujahideen. Who once served there purpose were abadoned. It was they who later turned into the taliban and now are a major source of agrivation to afghanistan itself aswell as pakistan and basically the whole of the west.

They are fighting an enemy which they them selves created. Like a caged lion which has turned on its previous masters. If the US has tied up all the loose ends and just abadoned and just let them to breed, we would not see the so call war on terror taking place now.

They Mujahideen fought for a noble cause and pushed back the big red giant but consisting of mostl uneducated grunts who don't speak any other launguage other than the langauge of violence after years of being trained in war and growing up in a gun culture. What were they expecting that they will all turn into nobel peace prize winners !

In turn they dumped them on Afghanistan and Pakistan. Now not trying to dump the blame on others, pakistan itself did not do anything to take control or disarm these people. The North West frontier was lawless at the best of times and gave perfect breeding atmosphere for power hungry people take control of the now aimless army and use them to their own means.

It were these battle hardend Mujahideen now lead by meglomaniacs which later turned into the taliban and took over Afghanistan and now are again gaining strong hold in afghanistan and also have gained a strong foothold in pakistan. It is actually quite pathetic that the Pakistani govt can't take over control over parts of its own country now taken over by the taliban.

I think this whole current terror situation could have been avoided if the US and Pakistan were more inteligent in the way the handled the Mujahideen instead of ignoring them.

Now as to what the solution is I really don't know? But I don't think more violence will serve any purpose. Eduation and eradication of wide spread corruption are really the steps in the right way. But I really see no hope of that happening in the near future as none of the Pakistani leaders are intrested in anything other than filling their pockets as much and as soon as possible.

Someone need to step in and take control over the situation. As the local leaders have clearly demostrated for the last two decades they are not up to the task. Countries like the US and the UK can't be trusted with a task like this as its all too clear they are only intrested in their oen twisted agendas. Maybe a agency like UN but that too is held by the nuts but the same. Who....I dont know ? sigh !!!

USA has been the biggest donor of Pakistan for last 30 years. CIA themselves has trained all those "mujaheddin" and supplied them by modern weapon including Stingers.

I can't refute USA involvement in the creation of the Mujahideen, Osama Bin Laden, the empowerment of the ISI etc But as you said, that was the past.
If you play with fire you will get burnt...USA and Pakistan has learnt this the hard way.
Going forward if there is to be a solution to this, then the USA along with India and China will have to play a defining role.
Politically I'm not a fan of Zardari or Sharif, but the onus is now on them. USA will have to support these administrations unfailingly...They need to regain control over their country, the powers of the army need to be clipped...consequently the ISI has to be nipped in the bud, terrorists cannot be offered a safe haven in Pakistan anymore.
President Zardari can start by being honest, after unnecessary hue and cry he reinstated the chief justice, next he needs to repeal the Presidents powers ordained by the Musharraf regime and uphold the constitution. He can quash his ego and ask for UN military assistance if required, he needs to stand up to the army. He has no qualms about asking for UN assistance on the LOC though, what a hypocrite. I don't know much about Sharif but hear he's quite the double crosser and is also quite naive, Apparently when his army was at war with India during Kargil he wasn't aware of it! An on the other hand the president has a nickname Mr 10%, thanks to his fondness for bribes. So much for leaders...

Education is important, but that’s a long term perspective, if the Taliban are around then there is not much time.

What makes the ground realities all the more volatile is the fact that Pakistan is a nuclear nation, who as proven are not averse to nuclear proliferation.
Most importantly the IMF needs to step in and draw a roadmap for the economic revival of Pakistan...as it has been well documented that most youths take to terrorism by virtue of necessity and not necessarily ideology.

USA the biggest terroist on this planet. does anyone know how many USA secret agencies are working around the world?

CIA and FBI are just the few we hear about all the time. what about morad? or the indian agencies in Afghanistan? we all know FBI and CIA are in pakistan. so how do we know it isnt the CIA and FBI who are carrying out these bombings across the world and the blame is put on the Islamic terroists.

do not believe your govs and the media. bunch of lies. Yeh Zardari has said Pakistan militants were behind the terroist attacks. does anyone know why he is known as Mr 10% :D i wouldnt be suprised he took millions of dollars from USA just to admit that Pakistan were behind all this.

ISI, Morad etc etc are agents of CIA and FBI. Individuals accross the world are puppets of American agencies. they do the dirty work and blame it on Islam.

osama bin ladin & taliban are the creation of CIA and FBI to fight off the soviet monster in afghanistan. cia and fbi created these groups because soviets in afghanistan were a threat to USA national security :S u moth(#$#$#$#s u r country is thousand miles away how the effing heck is a soviet takeover in afghanistan gonna effect ur national secuirty.

there is no such thing as a terroist. all the violence u see around u is because of agencies. and their goal is to create fear in our minds and to allow politicians to pass out laws which have restricted our rights.

now lets leave it there and let the ppl decide whether they do or dont want to open their eyes.

whats happened in the past during world history will know that it is ok for USA to build bases around the world and to build rocket launching pads across the world. But if some other super power decides to do the same they will be attacked on as it is in conflict with USA national secuirty.

arre u telling me that it is necessary for USA to have bases in 150 countries just so it can preserve national security??? come on ppl open ur eyes.

This is exactly what the civil history will tell; active-duty troops, peacekeeping missions that are provided by US for the security of the world; and the rest RB, is the matter of personal interpretation.
Do you think many of us would ask the question of ‘why ‘, and want to know the actual meaning/roots of Cold War, over seas missions etc.

myeusser history tells us alot about USA ,Isreal and whats happening in Pakistan and the soviets. its a shame that we havent learnt a single bit from our past.

just look at the bombing of hiroshima and nagasaki. not that many ppl know this but over 250,000 ppl died in Japan when USA dropped the 2 bombs. yes it was a war and there would be casulties on both sides. but 250,000 ppl because of a nuclear bomb??? come on a lot of innocent civilians got killed and has any American leader or general brought to justice cos of that? NOpe.

USA is loosing a war in Afghanistan & Iraq? Yes it is. will they drop the nuclear bomb? only the future will tell.

Well I still stand by what I said. At least it was positive. On the other hand you have to drag every country down. Do you anything nice to say about any country or nationality? If you do, let's hear it because that would be, to say the least, refreshing to hear you say something positive.

I guarantee you if not for the USSR debacle in Afghanistan, the world would be bowing down to USSR right now. Everyone blames the US for the formation of the Terrorism in religions name.....But look at it this way, Due to the Afghan debacle Moscow had to fight a war unsupportable by the government that eventually led to the demoralization and finally the breakup of the Soviet empire. If only the US had to follow up with the mujhadeen post that war and not ignore them today’s problem would never have arisen. Today Central Europe can breathe easy and feel liberated because of the success of US Secret Service at that time.
It the corruption of leaders in Pakistan and elsewhere that has let this situation deteriorate so much….
