For your info Herve, Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikha Hind took children from an orphanage into their home and raised them - taking them in and fostering them. These are children without family. This is something that some local families do. You see, this is part of the Emirati culture that people know little about.

Thanks, I knew it was like that but I didn't have the facts. This guy only wants to show one side of the story of the UAE and throws half facts around like confetti.

borabora, speedhump......you really are blind, and you only see what suits you
http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/f1 ... 16610.html
Sheikh Mohammed did father children with women he was not married to.
anyone else caught doing the same goes to prison for 18 months. but i guess he is above the law, and you swallow it.
do you know what you are for these people speedump, a nothing, an expandable goods, and you worship them? worship your queen, the UK has much more of history, culture and accomplishments.

Muslims are allowed more than one wife, I hope that's not news to you. The Sheikh has two who have given him thirteen children. And the five children whose mothers are unknown, you're saying you have proof they were not just taken in, adopted? Really? Please stop with the half truths again. In any case according to your beliefs Mo would have had them drowned at birth to hush it all up......

I don't worship anyone mate, least of all the locals here who will happily ask me to leave if I decide to stop working. But I knew that when I came here and I'm perfectly at ease with it, so what business is it of yours? I am here for me and me alone.

Again you comment on something you have no experience on other than what you can find on the internet. That is not experience, nor is it always accurate.

He checked nothing, he threw it in a fit of French pique.

Is that pink as in champagne? I prefer just plain vintage please.

yes you are right for once, i did not check in in those caves, because i escaped before that. for once you admited yourself that you live in a country, ready to pack and go the day something will got south. there is something wrong with this picture. this is not a normal way of living.

and I know very well muslims can have several wifes, but that is not the point here, you must do it on purpose, the point is that there is double standard, and hypocrisy, he did have children with women he was not married to, what does it have to do here that a muslim can have several wives., he is still breaking the law to father children out of bedlock. in addition, you are twice wrong, anyone, not just muslims can have several wives in Dubai. the laws of dubai apply to anyone regardless if they are muslim, buddhist or christians. divorce, mariage, inheritance, it is the punishment that differs depending of the faith. of course what free world woman would accept to be the 2 nd or 3 rd wife, how long did you say you studied the Emirates?
just admit the facts, i am not saying they are bad or good, only that s the way it is in dubai.
you are so one sided, that even if i pulled a smocking gun out of an emirati 's hand you would still deny it, or say wasnt his.
you say you from the UK, I dont know you but i would assume by the way you write , that you carry a UK passport with a pakistani or indian descent, does not mean you are british. This is not a racial opinion, so dont even go there, i have very good Indian and Pakistani friends who do not hide behind another country passport to make statements.

You admit you make statements without facts and have no proof that any children were born out of 'wedlock' (the correct term). I don't ignore smoking guns but you don't have one.

You DO say the facts are bad, so you are not being truthful here. I wonder, does your book actually say ANYTHING nice about the UAE?

You are a stupid man to believe you can identify someone's country origin from the way they write English, but I see that so many times here (about other forum users but NEVER about me before, that's quite funny), that I'll just lump you in with the others who jump in with both feet. I'm UK born white English and educated to UK 'A' level in English among other things. For a Frenchman to make such a statement is quite ludicrous and is another reason why I don't believe your book will be completely truthful. I'm not saying that you didn't leave Dubai in a rubber boat, I have no idea, but I believe that you probably are good at 'embellishing' facts wth extra detail. It's that spy thing again. A little truth, a lot of lies, hard to spot.

i just dont understand how a born british can be this so one sided, that s all. i put the link about Sheikh Mohammed Children, although i know this inforation from personal relations i got the proof from a website that is neutral legitimate and recognized, it shows clearly that he is the biological father of these children, when you deny my statement you imply they are lying as well.
when i say you are right it is because you are right, not because it is in agreement with what i say. again i dont embellish antyhing, you know nothing in publishing, these guys check everything before printing anything, especially on a sensitive subject like this. i have the bill of sale from HH, copies of police reports in India, and so many documents that shows clearly the path i have taken.
i do put positive features in my book about Dubai, a very few though.
i dont know if you have traveled a lot, but i can tell you, that if you are looking for a beautiful beach, a fabulous concert, a exquisite cuisine, or even a best tour in the desert, it is not in Dubai that you are going to find it. THAT is a lie.
Although you claim you will not read my book, you should, i promise beyond the facts you will not like, true facts, verifiable by yourself, you will find out practical information, like how the police monitors and track people, how you can get screwed doing business in Dubai, i mean who does not want to know that. again i give little hints so you can verify by yourself.
i am curious, and it would enlight me, if you gave me only 5 reasons , quickly, to justify a travel or a living in dubai that overcomes any other place in the world, and then i ll give my comments, 5 reasons why you like it so much there.

I will wrap this up quickly.

The royal website shows many children by his three wives and 5 others I think. It does not say he fathered the five. Let's drop this then as you are reading this information completely differently to me, maybe because you subconsciously want to read bad into it. I don't believe that it's me that's being one-sided.

Police all over the world have to do their job, they are given access to information and tools that others are not. If it keep the UAE clean and relatively crime free it's OK by me. We are not talking about corruption in this instance, although police corruption again exists in the most civilised countries.

I have never said I love Dubai and Emiratis (although I don't have any hatred for them) and that it's the best place on earth. I think you have answered so many critics you are now thoroughly confused. I LIKE being here, it's a different culture and so it intrigues me still, it's income tax free, it's close to some of my main markets, my lifestyle is good, despite the ridiculous pace of progress here which is changing Dubai for the worse in my opinion, I am still happy here. It's still a wide open city for business, or will be when the world starts to spend money again. Singapore, Monaco or Hong Kong for example just don't cut it. I like to be different, although with the amount of Brits here nowadays that's not working out so well, maybe my wife and I should try Vietnam next, I can do my business anywhere in the world.

With respect, if you do make comments, I may not reply as I think we're going over the same ground repeatedly now.

It doesn't matter how many wives he has/had, or children. The fact is they are all well taken care of.

Outside the UAE and Middle East countries, men keep mistresses and father children with them. These men can barely provide for two families and when they have had enough of the mistress they take a walk.

Herve, I can honestly say that you have little credibility. As you claim to have been spy, you were conditioned to lie and commit crimes in order to do your "job". I don't believe you were able to just turn off that conditioning when you left spyhood. I guess you justify it by the fact that you were "working" and getting paid to do it. I would describe it as an addict who kicked the habit but the behavior is still there.

agree, i am sure they are very well taken care of, what matters is the double standard, the difference with outside the UAE is that in dubai, anybody else will go to prison, for 18 months, regardless how good the baby is taken care of or not.
honestly, do you think 18 months prison is a justifiable punishment for a non married couple to have a baby? this is barbaric

many lives have been saved, many wars avoided, thanks to the never revealed works of secret agents. your words will never affect people like me, because you are ignorant, and the work they (we) do is beyond your comprehension.
i myself, risked my life with my team, to stop the highjacking of a boeing 747. tell what you think of people like me to the passengers of this flight or any other violent hostages situation. only if you were in a situation like that i would see in your eyes, like before i saw in other's eyes, absolute fear, and begs for your life, only then i guarantee you, you would show some respect. for my guys , it was just a job, and a hell of a ride.

Stopping a highjacking is one thing. I also thought that secret agents had multiple identities and once they left the service their background was never revealed. Every country has spies. But your purpose here is to whinge about an alleged disservice that was done to you while in Dubai, and after admitting that you were a spy in the Middle East for 10 years. Is your past to be ignored in this saga? I am just saying that you portray yourself as some kind of innocent victim. I am sure that if what you alleged didn't happen you would never have trashed Dubai.

Don't you want to fill the end of the month with it?
Code of conduct with a former spy around is quite the opposite really ;)

Ok Herve, give the guys some positive talk. The onion for instance needs a rosebed before he sleeps well. Remember that people need two ways of reporting. Good and Bad. Cover it up a bit.

Shouldnt be a problem for a (former) spy. 8)
