They are going up everywhere, and they are working which is the great thing, I just hate the "RB" drivers.

Do the new ones flash? I saw about half a dozen flashes last night on SZ Rd in one trip between Dubai Marina and Defense roundabout (not at me ... I hope!). I thought that was unusually high.

Ho hum...long debated point. There are some that don't flash, but they are still being tested and only on Emirates Rd.

To avoid this one going down the usual route:

There is a new system, not the usual speed cameras that you see, that sits in a completely round blue and silver post, looking like a mini lighthouse, that contains an infra red detector with a rotating head video camera, that comes from Germany and does not flash in the visible spectrum, and is currently under test by Dubai Police Traffic Department on the Emirates Road. There are currently only 3 units installed.

All the other cameras you see (tall poles with blue and boxes on top, little squat grey ones with 2 lenses one on top of the other, old fashioned tall square boxes on poles) all flash and use the old radar based system.

Everyone clear now?

It's the money honey. RTA wants a speed cam for each km in Dubai. I wonder what would they do when they need to collect more money.

As a matter of interest do you know where any one of these 3 cameras are installed as I would love to see one for curiosities sake?

you can still road break however it should be done from at least 70m away.... and if you dont break earlier by the time you get close to the radar even if you are completely slow, it will flash you. It happened infront of me couple of times.

dude.. I dont want to start this again with you... the one you are talking about is tested, FAILED and REMOVED, no more will be USED.

the new Swedish blue radar is the official lunched one. which is everywhere on all roads now.

I think you are not getting it that all roads are now using the new blue post radars...

Supposedly this will only happen if your average speed between the two cameras exceeds the allowable limit.

My wallet knows that for a fact!

I had one lucky shot last year. I was driving approx 170km/h on the highway when I was mirroring (for cops) I happen to see a car started following me. I knew it were cops holding distance for their in-car speed measurement.

So I just let it slide back to 140 and drove on with that speed. Cop pulled me over and took me to the nearest fueling station....
"Goodday sir, license and registration please!"
"You have been captured speeding with 145 km/h sir, that will cost you 190 euro's sir."...."but," he replies, "due to the public friendly demonstrations we momentarily support, you will not be fined for your behaviour".....

"Drive safely sir"

I will officer....I will and off I continued with 150 again, on the empty roads of Holland at night.

Lucky me.

ok guys, from experience..... definitely bad one. (check old thread)

All new cameras, do Flash and Doesn't flash.

It is just like the regular digital camera with flash.

If there is enough light... it doesn't flash.

so at night, definitely it will flash "some are yellow, some are white flash"

In day light. depends on the weather conditions and the approach angle of the offender's car.

Better be safe. don't want to be on the wrong side of the law. its horrible.
