Heard that the friday morning rides had been banned through Nad Al Sheeba.

Cyclists who have been told to get on their bikes and leave an area of Dubai have slammed the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) for imposing the ban.
An official from the RTA told 7DAYS that, at the request of Dubai Police, cycling had been banned in Nad Al Sheba in a bid to increase safety.
He added that it intends to develop new tracks across the emirate to cater for cyclists.
Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications Peyman Younes Parham said: “We want to minimise accidents and make it safe for cyclists when they ride on the road. When it is dark and there is a lot of construction activity going on, it is dangerous for people to be riding bikes.”
He added: “We have great plans to develop 100km bike tracks all over Dubai, including Nad Al Sheba. A new track would be ready as early as next year.”
However Wolfi, owner of Wolfi’s Bike Shop in Dubai said he was very disappointed with the ban.
“It’s strange that RTA has prohibited cycling. At least 40 to 50 cyclists use the track everyday. Where will they all go for the next year?” he said.
Another cyclist was also shocked: “We’ve been cycling in this place for many years now as it is the only place we felt safe to ride our bikes. Now we have no place to go.”
He added: “Two sign boards have been put up prohibiting cycling yesterday. One on Dubai-Al Ain Road and one after the police headquarters. It’s sad that Nad Al Sheba has become off limits to cyclists.”
Parham added that the authority had now made it mandatory for a cycling facility to be drawn up in plans for any real estate developments in Dubai.
He said that developers should submit a proposal for the cycling track in order to get approval for the project from the authority.
“Projects would not be approved without the cycling tracks,” Parham added.
