Britons travelling to the US could be detained and sent home by immigration officials if they do not register online before their trip.

I cannot believe how paranoid the US has becomes.

Nothing new, we've had to have visas for the US for a long time now.

Really, thought the Brits would get preferential treatment since they’ve done so many favours for them – it’s unfair. Australia and New Zealand and even Japan are currently exempt from visa requirements to enter the United States

I thought the UK citizens are covered under the Visa Waiver Program, they can stay for 90 days or less without obtaining a visa

Pre authorization to enter the US is now required for nationals of all the Visa Waiver Program countries, not just the UK. It can be done online.
