Recently I was in the check out queue in Spinney's only to find the person in front of me buying a single pack of cigarettes...and paying for it with a credit card!!!

I felt like giving him the 5dhs out of sympathy!

Does everyone here live by plastic?

well as it happens....................

this morning arrived at Heathrow, needed to fill tank.

Pulled up at pump, put unleaded in argghhhhhhhhhhhhhh my Navara is a diessel, so stopped at 68 pence or about 3 dhs. Put nozzle back and filled tank up with Diessel about £60 or 300 Dhs.

Went to pay and used credit card for the larger transaction and then i had to pay for the small transaction guess what ? - I had NO UK Money

Guess what? i used my card for the equiv of 3 dhs

Can anyone beat this ?

Yeah, I once put a whole tank full of unleaded in a diesel hire car. It bounced down the road like a kangaroo when I tried to drive away......

In some stores in America, they have set a minimum amount for using a credit card. If you still insist on using your credit because you have no cash, they'll charge you an administrative fee (they call it a handling fee) for any amount below the minimum. That's to discourage people from using their card for small amounts, because of the fixed administrative and accounting costs involved with processing each credit card transaction!

I once paid in a Schipol shop for an item at €99 - they mistakenly put it through at €0.99, so I thought I'd scored. But a few days later, without contacting me, they rescinded the €0.99 transaction and recharged me the correct €99, which didn't upset me too much. But what did annoy me was the barstewards added a €4 service charge to the €99, making me pay the admin on their incompetence.
