Christmas Dinner! Nov 24, 2008
I know its really rather late to be organising this, but last minute makes for more fun in my book!

My friend and I have decided to spend Christmas in Dubai, and then go to Sydney for New Year. (Don't worry - I will be paying for it for the rest of the year at the very least!)

Anyway, so my friend and I (he is veggie) need to find somehwere for Christmas dinner. Ideally nowhere too family-ish with tons of kids and Father Christmas.

Lunchtime or Evening (preferably lunchtime). Buffet ideal over just regular Christmas lunch.

Any suggestions? (As many as possible due to most probbably being booked up)

Thanks :D

I started calling around to some hotels asking if they had a special Christmas lunch on and most of them did, but a few were booked out already.

So you can pretty much just call up a hotel and ask them. I don't know many hotels here so it was a bit random for me.

Maybe get a Time-Out Dubai mag which lists all the buffet brunch places and call them up. It also has the buffet price, Chirstmas will probably be more but at least you will get an idea of price.

Ah traditional Christmas dinner... Aussie style.

Wake up and open pressies. Head to neighbours house for champagne breakfast and catchup. Head home, start cooking the turkey, have a beer because it is 35 degrees.

Lunch is a ridiculous amount of turkey with cranberry sauce, roast vegies and heaps of ham. Then when you are full to burst grandma brings out Christmas pudding and lights it on fire. Then everyone has an afternoon nap because they are so full of food and drink. Wake up for dinner and have prawns and more ham.

Continue eating left over ham for a week until you are so sick of ham you can't stomach it anymore. Prepare for new years....

Oh, now I will be in Oz for New Year, but not for Christmas.

I am thinking more and more that the best idea for Christmas is to stay in, drink lots and watch Muppet's Christmas Carol on DVD

Oh No! I am trapped in a Monty Pythonesque version of Groundhog day!

Right...we used to get up at 10.30 at night, half an hour before we went to bed, eat a handful of hot gravel, work 50 hours a day down at t'mill, AND pay mill owner for permission to go to work...and when we got 'ome our mum and dad would kill us wit' bread knife and jump about on our graves singing Glory 'Allelujah!

Enough already!!!
