No, they're not. That's like saying a Falabella is a smaller version of a Shire horse.

The African A** is actually much closer to a Zebra, it has similar colourings to a Donkey, but has stripey legs. Whereas the Asian A** is slightly different again, much bulkier build.

Next you'll brig Mules into it, which are the result of a horse mating with a donkey, but Mules are born sterile and cannot reproduce.

The African and Asian species are slightly different. They're all Equine but slightly different, with different names. But all really cool animals.
