Cream Ibiza.. Absolute RUBBISH!!! Jan 02, 2006
Well, hope everyone had a good new year celebration. I for one, did not. We went to the cream ibiza event, and I think I would be accurate in saying that many people would like to meet the organizers and show them a thing or two..

This had to be one of the worst events I have even been to. Got there by 1115 pm only to find the place swarming with teens and kids! Most of them under 17 for sure. The place was setup really badly and the so called arenas made me laugh. The worst part though, was the way the bars were managed.

There was one free bar (for VIP ticket holders) and one paid bar (for regular ticket holders). By the time we got to the free bar at 1130, we were told that the booze was over!!! Apparently the barteners were giving away bottles to customers since they couldnt handle the rush at the bar. And they had less bottles to begin with. So we went to the other arena to get a drink. There too the bottles were over. Totally unbelievable!

Tempers among the crowd were at an all time high by this point since unlimited booze for VIP guests should mean exactly that! People wanted to meet the manager who of course, was unavailable. Seeing the mob at the party, he would have probably been beaten to death if he was around and identified himself.

The VIP chalets were pathetic. I felt sorry for people to forked out 750 ++ for their tickets. The chalets were sad shacks with tubelights inside. People actually turned off the lights and lit candles to make the atmosphere more relaxing and chilled out.

So next we decided to just pay for our drinks at the paid bars. But, getting a drink there proved nearly impossible with the rush. Finally people had enough and began to raid the bar! They jumped over and started throwing bottles to the crowds. SO you could see huge bottles flying in the air. Some people got injured in the process as well.

By midnight, you had a mob of drunk teens and kids running around. Booze was competely over. nd all the bars were closed after having been trashed and raided.

We managed to get a little booze, and then pretty much left by 1 am. It was really bad the way the organizers just ripped off the public and I hope people take action against those bastards.

Cream Dubai NYE complete DISASTER!! Jan 02, 2006
Jag, you are damn right, the promoters of this event(Solo Entertainment and Gravity Nights) better find some way of compensating us VIP ticket holders. This event was a disaster, it was chaotic. Worst of all, staff and security members were unorganised, unsympathetic and plain out RUDE! One such member who called himself "Walleed" even had the audacity to challenge myself and a few other angry patrons to "Sue him".

I didnt even get a sip of alchohol that night, by 1am I left, angry, sober and tired.

This is plain out robbery, a disgrace to Cream's name and to dance music events.

Well, I wasn't at Cream, but my New Year's Eve was equally disastrous.

We were supposed to be having a great party in the desert (in a neighbouring emirate) but it was so poorly organised! The bus was supposed to have left Dubai at 8:30pm and we left at 10 pm. We were walking in the desert towards the party place because they didn't have enough 4X4's to get us all there in a timely manner. The drivers would fly over the sand dunes at a crazy speed and we'd have to scatter so we wouldn't get hit. Finally we just stopped in one spot and waited for more 4X4's to arrive. One car ran into the back of another for no apparent reason - so they had to call the police for that, and the passengers had to get out and continue to wait to get to the party. It was past midnight at this point. Thankfully there was still food when we got there, but booze was brought in installments and some people went without. They were giving whole bottles away earlier apparently. The DJ was terrible and one of the speakers died, with smoke pouring out of it and all. Some live band started to play and they sounded like bad karaoke! The bellydancers arrived at 2am to perform, but we were already waiting for a 4X4 to take us back to the bus and get the hell out of there, in case we'd end up stranded till sunrise.

The best part of the night was the people we were with, and the beautiful view of the stars, but that was about it. 300 AED down the tubes! (and that was with a 100 AED discount thankfully, but so many others paid the full price!)

In the future I will take care about these party planners who want to spend little money and effort on the party details, and only aim to pocket a large sum of money.

Gee.... sorry for having such a dissapointing New Year's Eve celebration. Especially if you did pay an enormous money hoping to enjoy and have fun without hassle. My experience is different though. Having to celebrate my New Year's Eve in Dubai for the first time, I am happy to say that we did enjoy it very much. Loads of food and unlimited booze. Entertainment is just alright but can be better. Met lots of people and danced a bit crazier!

Hey, sorry to hear about your night! :(

I dont even think they will bother to compensate or even apologize. They will probably shut down and show up again next year under a different name. They made their money no doubt.

Chocoholic, I think you were going to Cream as well.. How was your experience?

And I wish we really could sue them like you can in the West...

Dear All,
sorry to hear that many people had a terrible time with the events in Dubai. I was looking at where to go, and backed out of 2 events, one was a desert party organised by Royal Tours, if anyone has info on this it would be nice to know how the event faired.

My 2nd choice was DesertZone, and I backout out of that too, due to the ridiculous prices quoted, for one thing I can not understand the attitude of people in Dubai, why do people think that high priced tickets (anything above 200 AED) is reasonable for another night out. So I finally opted for bargain basement at the iBO.

Well this was my first visit to the place, when I walked in with 2 others, the place only had around 40-50 people, and we thought we landed at the saddest NYE party in Dubai, especially after we drove from Jumeirah area and saw a flood of cars heading towards Jebel Ali/Jumeirah area. As we had arrived at 11:15 we thought it best to celebrate the NY at iBO. Another 2 friends joined us, and as the place was relatively empty we were able to chat, and enjoy the music withoput being bulldozed by other revellers. To our surprise the crowd started to get in to the mood after the New Year, and the music by all the DJs was great, I am no expert on club music, but my friend NYC was with me, and he was impressed as he is a regular club goer in NYC. To our surprise me and my wife won 2 bottles of bubbly, and this was turning out to be a good night, we finally left at 2:30 to drop in at a house party, which was winding its way to a close, with people just chatting.

All in all it's not the place, the hype or the DJs that are flown in, its the people you are with and in the place you are at. iBO had a very mixed crowd represented by all nationalities and backgrounds which made the place feel like Dubai, most people were based in Dubai and very well behaved out to make the best of the 50 AED. My only complaint is that the free drink was only vodka, which seemed to have very little vodka, and most others with me and a couple other revellers felt the same, but I cant really complain and suggest to leave the drinks out, atleast we will not feel that iBO thinks we are stupid. I thank iBO for the 2 bottles of champagne, and the music, definetly visit you again, and consider you next year...if the price is right.

cheers,

Me?! I stayed well clear of all the big events, I heard terrible things about Cream, the Lodge only had about 50 people, Dubai Country Club was quiet.

People are getting pi**ed off being ripped off and charged a fortune for things they can do most night of the week.

Myself and friends went to 3 villa parties, which was great! We went to the beach at midnight to watch the fireworks - so many people there! Roads were a disaster, but hey never mind. Had a good one and I think more people will do the same next year.

I think the trouble is, organisers from out of town try to do things here without having the proper experience. You need Mirage, CSM, Vibe, Talent Brokers etc to do these things properly.

Fatboy Slim is a Mirage event - it'll be good!

All thats needed for a great New Years are Fireworks and thousands of peeps watching it together. Too Bad the Global Village didn't have something like that on New Years, would've been a great PR event for the city of Dubai.

True, very true... spend it with a few people. And definately staying clear from events done by these shady promoters. I went to the NYE party at Boudoir(outdoor party), it was amazing, u can book a table for 10-15 of your friends, bottles of alchohol served to your table , a lavish spread of food, a big stage with dancers etc... all in all the night wasnt a complete loss.

I thought about Boudoir but its always so super crowded, that we decided not to go there.. but then again, anything would be better than that awful cream event!!
