I'm in the process of being made a job offer to come to Dubai. Whilst I could afford my own place, I'm a 29yr old single professional guy who knows no one out there and was wondering if many people in a similar circumstance choose to share somewhere? Essentially, do 3-4 westerners/English speakers all rent a nice large villa/apartment together, not because they can't afford their own places - but just as a way to live somewhere nice with a ready made group of friends to go for a drink with? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? If so, where's a good place to look to find people to share with?

Yes they do. However the Municipality is clamping down on sharing, esp groups of guys living together. But if you have a mixed bunch and don't bug your neighbours or cause trouble, there should be no probs.
