I'm considering pursuing a position in a project management (in development) job in Dubai mainly because the money is "supposed" to be really good. Help me out, I wouldn't want to get there with my wife and infant son and regret the move.... so please... tell me what the real deal is with Dubai?

How's the housing?
How's the social life?
Can I bring my car from the States?
Is it really as "fun" and "exciting" as I hear through advertisements?
What don't you like?
I would be coming with my wife and infant son. (is there any reason
to reconsider going to Dubai for this reason?)
Is it easy to consider doing a 2 year job there?

How's the housing?
EXPENSIVE!!!!! well depends on what kind of housing you will need. A 2 bedroom aprtment in a decent location in Dubai will cost you upwards of $36,000 per annum

How's the social life?
Lots of bars and pubs. not much of sports (except mall hopping if you consider it a sport). Lots of outdoor camping places during the year except May to Sept cos of the heat

Can I bring my car from the States?
No idea. I guess it will be much cheaper to buy a car in Dubai

Is it really as "fun" and "exciting" as I hear through advertisements?
I've enjoyed my few years in Dubai.

Traffic, traffic, traffic, rents, rents, RANTS

Not a bad place for the family.

Depends on your skills. Should be fun!!

thank you. i really appreciate the info. to tell you the truth - i'm very excited about the possibility... my wife and i are both adventurous. we just want to make sure we make the right decision (i.e. no regrets). I'm a land development project manager - so i imagine there should opportunity at good pay rate. i hold over 5 years experience, with an MBA in finance.
