If you've read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, the answer to the eternal question of Life, the Universe, and Everything is 42. Although treated comically in the book, that was the age when Adams became a father. That was his ultimate answer to the purpose of life. But being an extremely subjective view, it has to be a personal answer to each one of us.
My purpose could be to eventually drive the convertible Jag XKR or to own a place in the Bahamas. Someone else's could be to just be with the person they love the most for all life.
A low-time in life is a very good time to look towards the high-time of your life, and use the hope and happiness of that time to bring you back up.
