A tricky situation...

I have an Australian P licence, which is a provisional licence allowing me to drive in Australia.

It expires this year, in fact, three weeks after I am due to arrive in Dubai to start a new job.

Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer a P licence to a temporary six month Dubai licence?
Has anyone done this? Any problems or hassles? Will it be recognised as an official licence?

No it snot possible, you need a valid driver's license to exchange it for a UAE license. Your best bet would be to get an international driving license which is good for a year from the date of issue.
