Visa For Friend

visa for friend Apr 14, 2008
Hi

I know this kind of question comes up a lot but... i am trying to find a hotel to sponsor a Jordanian friend to come to Dubai for a holiday - I work here but I have been told I cannot sponsor him because I'm female and females can't sponsor males.

1 - is this always true? does anyone know if it is actually possible?

2 - does anyone know of a hotel that arranges visas but doesn't require that my friend stays more than one night (I can't afford to pay for a hotel for a week).

thank you for any help anyone can give...

Who told you? It's more difficult but I thought it was possible. Ask your company PRO to try. Nationality and profession probably makes a difference.

I used to use a travel agency - they'd charge 500 dhs per visa. Sorry, I forgot name, but it is possible.

Thanks for your reply bonk - it was the immigration service in dubai who told me that I could not sponsor him - I am from the UK and I am a university professor - am I respectable enough do you think?! I cannot ask my university to try, I work in sharjah...

if i use a travel agency, can i just get the ticket and visa? or do i have to book some accommodation with them also?

thanks again for any help.

I am presuming that he is also Muslim.

You are going to be working in Sharjah.

Is he your Boyfriend / Partner?

Frankly speaking you are taking chances coming to Sharjah under such circumstances.

thanks very much for your replies sage.

i am already working in sharjah - he is muslim yes, but he is just a friend and it is only for a holiday for a week or so - even so i can't ask someone else to be the sponsor because people automatically jump to conclusions because i am also single.

so i wanted to know if there are hotels or travel agency or other suggestion that can sort out a visa but you only have to stay for one night - everywhere i have tried say you have to stay for the whole of the visit. i cannot be the only person in this situation i'm sure so hoped someone might have a suggestion.

all help appreciated!

I think if you have a Sharjah visa, you have to organise visitor sponsorship from Sharjah immigration. I'd expect them to be more difficult than Dubai especially if non-Muslim female sponsoring unrelated Muslim male.

Try some tour agencies and ask if they can arrange sponsorship. I know I used one in the past successfully. Sorry, I can't remember the name, and I can't find any paperwork (it was several years ago :().

Alternatively, can you ask a male friend to sponsor him?
