Morning all,

I am a keen and enthusiastic Australian looking to acquire international business exposure and woud love an opportunity to work abroad in Dubai. I have seven years experience working within the banking and finance industry, having started in collections, then moving onto a senior credit analyst position and more recently as a business development manager.

Whilst having a few years of experience under my belt, I do not have any formal education (Although I am currently studying a Bachelor of Commerce), will this severely hinder my potential and would I be wasting my time looking ?

I know there are plenty of switched on people on these forums who have taken the plunge and moved to Dubai, so I'm really hoping I can rattle your brains for some wisdom.

hi there, without wanting to dampen your spirt, yes it would have a bearing on your chances of employment. dubai loves paperwork and credentials; they may not always be the right one for the job.

the minimum academic qualification that will allow you (as an australian) to work in dubai is a school leaving certifiacte (grade 12), although it is defenitly dependant on what field you intend to work in. grade 12 would normally be the minimum for an unskilled position.

the other option would be to look at completing your studies in dubai. the university of walongong has offices in dubai and has a number of graduate business (as well as post graduate) courses on offer. you would be able to get a student visa, although it would not entitle you to work in dubai whilst studying.
