I have friends who work in the middle of it and live in the middle of it.

Jumeirah 1 to Deira -> head down Beach Rd. take Shindagha tunnel and then sort yourself out from there.

Aren't they saying beach road will be closed?

No, Beach Road will be open.

Thanks, man.

beach road is closed also

Al Wasl Road and Jumeirah Beach Road will also be closed in addition to the area around Umm Sequeim.

Holiday declared in Dubai tomorrow
(WAM)

13 January 2008

All ministries, government departments, schools and private companies in Dubai will have a holiday tomorrow.

This has been done to avoid congestion on the roads that could be caused by the closing down of some flyovers, bridges, tunnels and main roads.

Official government sources have urged all nationals and residents to avoid using main roads and streets.

Back in Bangalore our office is near to the air port road.. so whenever a highprofile fool is passing by, they used to cordon off the road.. I remember how we used to swear at them national and inter national leaders who made us wait for 20 mins on the way back from work..

I couldn't believe at first that the supposedly most progressive city in the Middle East will be entirely shut down for Bush. He will then say tomorrow how amazingly traffic-free Dubai is.

'Her indoors' has been told by her employer that she 'must try to make an effort and get to work tomorrow'!

This is in Internet City...and we live in Jumeirah 1. Any suggestions (forget the helicopter option!) as to how she is supposed to get there? Incidentally...she doesn't drive yet!

But it's a holiday for the Public & Private Sector, will "Her indoors" get a big fat bonus for going in tomorrow?
