Visit Visa 3rd time? Dec 24, 2007
Hey everyone,
I have been in Dubai for the past 6 months on visit visas, issued and renewed twice. I got a job recently but by the time the company starts the joining process, I will have to go back to my homecountry. My question is, can I come back on a visit visa for the third time?

I know the company can probably do all the paperwork while I am in my home country but to be on the safe side, I just wanted to confirm if I can get a visit visa issued again. I heard you can only get two visit visas per year or there is some time period you have to wait before getting the third visa issued.

It all depends in which is your home country!

India, Sri lanka etc, you can only have two visit visas then you have to leave the country for at least a month before another visit visa is issued.

UK, US, most European (all countries that obtain visit visa upon arrival) passport holders can come and go as much as you want. I guess you are not from the latter, else you could just go the Hatta/Oman border to renew your visa - 2 hour round trip.

Thanks The Major!
You are right. I am from Pakistan. So is there any other solution to this. I went through 3 months of rigorous and painful assessments and interviews to get this job at Emirates Airline. I am just a little paranoid about not being able to come back on time. I asked the HR person if I can complete the joining process from Pakiland but she hasn't replied yet. I have to fly in a couple of days!

Ah yes - the wheels of recruitment turn very slowly at Emirates!

What will you be doing there?

You will not be able to start with Emirates until your visa is processed, I think you would need to come back in on your residence visa but not too sure, I would cahse HR again. They have just had a five day break for Eid so maybe a little behind....

Good Luck

If Emirates choose to employ you, you will get a residence visa.

Just bear in mind, their HR is nowhere near as quick as their jets.

lol I guess. I know they will get a residence visa for me. I am just not sure how are they going to process it while I am in pakistan.(Maybe send the documents over via fed ex and have me sign and return them??) Maybe this is a dumb question but am not too aware of these laws here!!

Is there a reason why you think you may not get a residence visa?

2 weeks ago when we flew into AD, the english guy in front of me at passport control was told to wait. In queue for at least 5 mins when i said "whats goin on?", he said "dunno but this is my 4th visa run this year".

When the chap came back he told the english guy to "go to the office". Never seen him at baggage 20 mins later.

Maybe they are clamping down on visa runs ???

Your temporary buddy must've been a freelance writer. A guy with Wheels told me they have a lot of freelance Brit writers, but he doesn't know how they stay in the country.

There was news a few months ago that visa renewals would be limited to 2 or 3 times, and then you have to exit the UAE for a month. But I know of people who continue to do the Hatta visa run road trip with no problems - and they're up to many more than 3 renewals.

Maybe airports are more strict?
