Need Recommendation on hotel in Bangkok Dec 23, 2007
Will be there first week in January.

Any recommendations... Not a dump...but not an overpriced crappy place either (I can do that on business trips).

Seeing that you have already booked your hotel.
Anyway next time, try the Ascott in Sathorn, Banyan Tree, Metropolitan Hotel

Thanks, you're a Doll!

We booked 2 nights at the Banyan but checked out the Ascott and Metropolitan on your suggestion. The metropolitan looks like it would be cooled.

We also checked out the Dusit but only because I stayed at the Dubai Dusit for 2 months when I arrived.

The Dusit is ok but you would like Sukhothai better.

Dont forget to eat losta fruits there. My fav is the rose apple and the pomelo.

Ascot, Banyan & Metropolitan are all on the same side/stretch of the road. While you are there check out HealthLand (closer to Ascott) but of course if you are after something more luxurious / spa then take the hotel service.

When you are in Banyan goto the roof top restaurant. After that goto the Dome (they may have a new name now). Make your own comparison. The view from these 2 locations is excellent.
