Fujeirah how do I get there? Dec 10, 2007
I've been there before, a while back. When I thru a few towns and even a large farm (by mistake) and eventually got there. After I came back someone mentioned a new road, etc.

I want to go there so that I go thru the "Friday Market".

Anyone know the way!

p.s. Yes, I can look it up on a map, etc. but...

I always head to Sharjah and take the road to Fujeirah from there following the signs (Don't ask me for exit numbers).

This will take you through what I presume you mean is the Friday market.

Of course, watch out driving through Sharjah... there are many inmates serving time waiting to be deported there... for what... I dunno... think of something.

If you look on Google Maps, take the Al Dhaid road.

If by new road they mean the 611 - I have taken it and it is heavily populated by trucks... and not recommended. It is easy to get too though, just stick to Al Khail Road and take the exit to E44. then take the exit to 611 then E88.

Better off going the Sharjah way... ironically I'm going to say it is more civilised.

Thanks Ian,

Yeah, the Friday Market is up on the hill and has many vendors selling plants, pottery, rugs other stuff - on either side of the road. It seems quite permanent but for some reason it is called "Friday Marke" (well, at least in a guidebook...)

Probably because that's what day the person who wrote the entry went through it.

We bought a watermelon once at the Friday market... it was ok, but not great... possibly because I think it was a saturday.

Plus I never would buy ripe fruit there because in the heat it will quickly ferment and turn into alcohol and since I will be driving thru Sharjah I don't want to face deportation and execution (or execution and deportation)...

You forgot you will also get a beating.

Execution, Deportation, Beating... that's the preferred order.

Concs when you are on the Sharjah road the exit to Al Dhaid actually says Central and Eastern region (with no mention of Fujeirah) From there after there will be signs and you go through al Dhaid. To go through the Friday Market you need to follow the signs to MASAFI and ignore the signs to Al Aqah. After the Friday markets you then have a choice to go to Al Aqah or fujeirah (the former being much nicer)

I took the new road which is quite incredible and you end up in Kalb on the coast but it's nowhere near where you want to go. (to access take road to hatta and take second roundabout left past dragon mart. Then keep following straight and end up going through wicked tunnels high up in the mountains

Thanks.

I think I'll go to Kalb just for the hell of it one of these days. Funny thing, everytime I think of mountains I think: "green" - but not here...
