Which is better? Living in Australia or Dubai!

I am contemplating migrating either to Australia or to Dubai. (From India)

After some research, I have outlined some advantages and disadvantages of living in Dubai and Australia

Advantages of Living in Australia

Safe and self sustaining country
Loads of greenery, no pollution, nature, peace and quiet
Outdoor life style
Laid back people
Excelllent Education System
Great Weather
Transparent Democracy
Excellent Education System
Retirement Benefits

Disadvantages of Living in Australia

Isolated from other continents makes travelling abroad more expensive
Some Racism
Low returns on Real Estate Investment
Falling property prices in some regions.

Advantages of Living in Dubai

Great Geographic location
More money making opportunities.
No income tax
Higher returns on Real Estate investment than Australia
Specialist free trade zones for business
Regarded as the most sophisticated, futuristic and cosmopolitan cities in the world Unsurpassed safety and security.

Disadvantages of Living in Dubai

Fast paced life
Traffic Woes
No long-term surety of stay. You can never become a citizen.
Unpredictable future of the region
Expensive Real Estate
Confusing laws and regulations
Cost of living is high (expensive food and rentals)
Extreme Climate & Unnatural/artificial beauty
No Real Democracy
Difficult to sponsor parents.
Expensive and limited Education System
No Retirement Benefits
Red Tape
Introduction of Taxation in coming months
Some Racism
Strange Islamic Laws like you cannot eat in public places during Ramadan and you need a permit to buy alcohol.

As I get close to ending this note, I guess I have already got some insight.

I forgot to mention, I am 33, married with no children yet. I would probably set up a small business wherever I go (not settle for a job) and have enough funds to out rightly buy a house. FYI, I have recently secured an Australian PR but still not sure about moving there.

Your valuable feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks Again

Australia and safe? I doubt it.

Well you are right, dubai has an unpredictable future.
other than the traffic you might have to worry about free commuters that will get into your car when you are about to enter.

Dubai is sad,
i think you will be better off in australia.

things are irritating here. Unfortantely for me this place is all i know.
i was born and raised here so lets see what the future holds.
Yes dubai was very good before, now its just lots of rich spoiled "children"
who want something for something. The town like feeling is gone.

But hey thts just my opinion,

Im sure sage&onion will take you under his wing.

Migrating to Australia is increasingly difficult, depending also on your passport origin. They would look at your age, qualification, family, history etc. If its business migration, you need AUS 2m in the bank (I think).

If you are thinking of starting a family, Australia is pretty good. If work is priority perhaps you can consider coming to Dubai for a few years and then move to Oz.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Australia is far from unpolluted and green. Have you been? Howard just lost an election as he didn't give a monkey about the environment (partly). But if you intend to migrate there you would be better off doing it now as the older you get the harder it gets. If it’s a permanent thing immigration I’d go to Aus as it’s a democracy and you can become a citizen. If its a short term thing I’d pick Dubai for the money.

I would never come here (Dubai) for *the money*. Come here the experience and the difference in culture (or merging of cultures) that it offers. But if you come here for the money you'll be disappointed.

As for the Australian Election... don't fall into the ancient art of blaming the king because it doesn't rain. When I heard some of my fellow Australians were blaming the drought on the failure to sign the Kyoto protocol... I really had to wonder.

As for the environment in Australia, it's a lot better protected with national parks and in general respect than many other countries in the world.

Thanks Guys! Appreciate it. FYI, I already secured a permament resident status under the general skills category. Although, I have enough funds parked there, I don't have to utilize them for a PR. :D

I can move there without anything  and applu for DOLE  JUST KIDDING.

I think Australia is a very safe country; if we talk about cities like Sydney, Melbourne. Ofcourse, I was not wanting to live in some jungle which would be risky.

Hmmmmm..it seems Dubai is loosing steam! WOT SAY

So if you didn't come for the money, does that mean that you are earning less than you would be if you were in Australia?

I'm here for the money. But I wouldn't be here if I wasn't happy.

AusDub,

Don't worry about racism is australia. As long as you can play cricket and/or footy and scull a pint of beer in less than 7 seconds you'll be fine.
However, I wouldn't recommend cheering for india at the cricket.

Comparatively I'm earning about the same. The no tax thing of course makes things a bit rosier, but it's the incentive not the reason.

Wrong. New Zealand is safer than Oz. However, the jungles could be safer than the cities unless you believe and watch too much of LOST

The real estate market in Dubai is currently HOT. Anyone buying off-plan property stands to make a lot of money. However, this being Dubai (SLOW-paced life, not fast-paced), delays of 1 or 2 years is common, and you have to go with a reputed developer just to be sure the buidling is actually finished. But once the market dies down, I'm not sure why you'd want to hang around here.

I'd go to Ozziland for a long-term future.

I think u've answered yoa question yourself.. but for sure I'd like to suggest an alternative.. You can move down to dubai and still live in Aus.. You cant do that if you move to Aus.. Coz OZ dont have no World Island with all the continents !! :P

Australia is full of wildlife...mostly wearing stained wife beater vests, boots with socks, baggy shorts and a floppy drizabone hat, clutching a tinny and uttering the familiar mating cry of "Brace yerself Sheila!"

All animals in Oz are lethal!
