Dubai Radar Cameras!! For revenues or minimise violations? Dec 06, 2007
With the increasing numbers of Cameras on Dubai roads and increasing revenues of Dubai Police, with no effect on accidents and traffic congestion compels me to wonder if those things are for curbing violations or for raising revenue???? Have your say.....

Well... the problem is the fines are simply not enough to deter people from driving badly. At 200 dirhams... some people can afford to drive like a maniac...

On the other hand... there's clear indication they could increase it to 300 and make more money... but they haven't so... don't think it's 100% money grabbing, but that sure is a positive spin off.

I just got my first speeding fine. I think I'll ask for a photo and frame it.

Still don't know where they were hiding that camera.

The answer is simple. The guys making the rules speed and they don't want to punish themselves too much, but at the same time they want to make a decent revenue to at least cover their costs.

That's a hell of a lot of people making the rules on the road.

Look... I speed, but I have no sympathy for people caught speeding. It's pretty fricking easy to not get caught by the speed cameras.... don't speed.

You can whinge all you like about whether they're a grab for profits or whatever, but if you don't speed, you don't pay.

It couldn't be more simple.
