hi there,

they don't have to do anything, their employer/ sponsor is responsible for all the applications, documentation and government procedures. all they normally need to do is provide a copy of thier passport to the employer, the rest of the processing (medical exam etc) take place once they are in the uae

dubai, the uae and most GCC countries work on the "sponsorship" principal of employment, you cannot apply for a permit yourself, your employer has to make the application on your behalf.

i should perhaps point out that security guards are amongst the lowest paid employees in the UAE, an average salary is in the region of 400 - 500 USD! i hope that they have a better offer than this!

Is it true that you can only work for the company that first sponsored you?
What if you decide to work for another employer ?

Cheers

You can always change to another company but you need to complete the poriod mentioned in your contract (most of the time its 3 years)

true, the contract period is three years, but there is still no guarentee that they will not get a 6 month ban (current regulation) on completion of the contract.

it would be best to try and pick the best employer first time round, as i said the security business in dubai is not glamorous or well paid!!!!!

Ok, I never knew about that

What's the most sought after skills in Duba - I mean for somebody who is not that skilled ?

My two brothers in Tunisia have done many jobs , but they are not specialised , or should they learn a trade before going to Dubai?

Thanks

i'd consider something along the lines of plumbing or air-conditioning technitions, these are semi-skiled job, but the pay is much better, and no doubt too the accomodation. there is also a limited scope then for them to earn a little extra money doing private work.
