Al-Shamil DSL disconnecting problems Aug 17, 2007
Since one week ago my Al-Shamil DSL has been disconnecting many times, like 3-4 times in an hour. Need to redial agian. Have you experience the same thing lately?

What bonk see in the taskbar icon is not the real speed of the DSL (to provider). I have too similar number. AFAIK, that is the internal speed between your network/USB interface and the modem.

Back to topic.
Apparently it happens much more in the evening/night. Once it disconnected every half minute!
But in day time, it's much less.
Therefore I'm sure it's not the laptop or the modem.

that 4mbps usualy happens when you use a bluetooth device to connect to your router. thats why use a cable whenever possible to achieve 100mbps connection always to your router.

Maybe they have a bigtime client operating at night and your connection happen to be on the same trunk as they are... hehe :?

OT question: How do you apply for this online if you dont have a land line? i.e., land line number is required in the online application :?

go to any etisalat branch and fill up the al shamil dsl form. you need a tenancy contract and passport though.

my friend applied without tenancy contract since he is in accomodation and also without landline but they accepted it. you just have to personally apply in the etisalat branch.

Any DSL connection requires landline phone connection. They will get you a new one when applying (deposit 200 AED if I'm not mistaken).
