Burton, that was a good observation.

Filipinas used to be conservative not until the US regime. But it's unfair to blame the US for bringing in liberalism in our country. Filipinas registering in a www site i.e considered to be 'MOB sites' is frown upon by other Filipinos.

It is not just about age disparities. I can see hedonism, materialitic desires, product of socio-economic problems etc. (Take note: This doesn't apply to everyone). Most of the Filipina women who tend to marry a foreigner, who's way too older than them, are 'economically' challenged back home. And most of the foriegn men getting married to Filipinas are divorce. If the guy is US citizen, he is either a soldier, an ex-soldier or a retiree.

Quite interesting isn't it?

there are around 200,000 or so filipinos in dubai, i reckon a number of them are here

Is it not a fact that many of the Filipinas in Dubai are alone and away from families. And that having a foreign friend makes them feel safer and secure. Also lets face it many Filipino men have a reputation for being immature and unreliable. Vive le difference!
