From The Article:

He said the clubs cannot leave them unlocked or unguarded because there have been cases when these girls have ‘run away’ with their rich friends.

Erm... cattle? Keep 'em caged? I guess coz they're 'dancers'... they cease to be human... *sigh*

I'm sure the West-bashers on here will join me in saying how clearly misguided we were in abolishing that joyful passtime of slavery all those years ago, oh to be enlightened like you.

As a mater of fact….. keep them locked…. OUT OF THE COUNTRY! Where the hell do you go and have dancers in clubs now a days,,,, it is like watching an old movie!!!! I can just imagine the kind of crowds that goes to such clubs… taking that into consideration, I do think that keeping them locked is safer for them…

Pathetic is the word I'd use. They came to Dubai for a better life but ended up in cages

If we are talking about the 'dancers' who are, to all intents and purposes, prostitutes - I see your point. I mean, they shouldn't be locked up but then again, the poor sods shouldn't be here either...

But bro, remember one thing. There are also professionally trained singers and dancers who are locked up. Young women who have qualifications/degrees in music or dance. Again, professional artists, no joking about. Can you imagine these people being locked up anywhere ellse?

Now I agree, it doesn't happen so much with the professionally trained singers/dancers who are part of a legit group BUT it is not totally unheard of either...

And mate, singers, dancers, wives, daughters - locking them up is backward and dangerous. Definitely not safe. Otherwise they wouldn't be dying of smoke inhalation in fires...

Am not saying anyone should be locked-up... Male or female…. It’s obviously wrong… actually to even talk about it is retarded.

However, you did say a good point, professionals would not be treated that way, simply cuz they don’t allow it, and I don’t believe in someone doing their dos in such low level places… there have got to be other options….

To be honest mate, some of the places are not total dives.
Even in a four star hotel, I have known of the female singers being locked up at night.

And it's not really a condition which is explicitly discussed in their home country. It's only when they get here, that they find out the score. And also, it varies from club to club, management to management.

Also there's tremendous pressure just to accept it. A young singer arrives here as part of an eight piece band, I mean - that's her band, been singing with them back home. Taken her ages to get here, visa hassles etc, family pressures and other feelings of responsibility etc..in the first week when suddenly - for the first time - lock-up occurs, what actually do you do? Mess up everything with your band/work/comitments and leave? How? (if you know what I mean...)

Anyway, it's just a Dubai phenomena - like the passport holding - but one which is hopefully gonna die out...
