Tenancy laws in dubai? Nov 06, 2005
Hi all,

I'll be moving to Dubai very soon and trying to get a rental apartment for about 2 months stay. What are the tenancy laws in Dubai and how do they differ from the UK. Is there anything I should watch out for? I dont want to get scammed by a landlord but this would be hard if I dont know the laws that protect the tenants.

Anything info will be appreciated!!

Cheers
Rocky

Yeah good luck with that. everyone gets ripped off by landlords!

There is the rental dispute committee, but they're not good for much. Many landlords expect you to pay your years rent upfront, but as we all know this is virtually impossible you can normally get away with 2 or 3 post dated checks. But landlords seem to be able to put rent up at will unless you have it in your contract that it's fixed for a certain period of time, but most contracts here really aren't worth the paper they're written on.
