Dubai: A couple from Eastern Europe who were caught half-dressed having sexual intercourse in a small car on Shaikh Zayed Road have been jailed.

The Dubai Public Prosecution had charged the 19-year-old female, from Kyrgyzstan, and a 20-year-old male, from Kazakhstan, with having an illicit relationship.

The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced the two accused to three months in jail each. They will be deported after serving their imprisonment.

A police patrol suspected one of the cars that was parked for a long time on Shaikh Zayed Road. The officers discovered that the couple were having sexual intercourse. Sources said they were caught in a "very intimate and private situation".

The two were arrested and they confessed to the charges. They are expected to appeal the primary ruling shortly.

Kyrgyzstan & Kazakhstan, it's not really Estern Europe !!!!

Insane..... I am moving to Dubai this week..... think should of booked surgery.... a labotomy, before I left the UK!!

I read that 80% of the HIV sufferers here have got it from IV drug use which doesn't surprise me.

It was published 4 yrs ago in Gulf News. It says that there are about 1000 case of HIV. I'm pretty sure that figure have already gone up by this time cause more people have come in here in Dubai.

They are keeping a lid on it, cause it won't be good for their image as a Muslim country. Everybody knows how strict Muslim religion is.

There was an article in Emirates today about a month ago how they're setting up 4 centres to provide specialist care to the 600 (IIRC) cases of HIV in the Emirates.

Quite an indepth articles, and it went onto state the majority of HIV cases were IV drug use, which is quite believable.

Also the WHO reports the HIV infection for Dubai as neglible, and it does this by accessing a number of reports, including HIV treatment drugs shipped to these countries.

HIV is an issue here, but don't blow it out of proportion.
