Beware of employing domestic part time help, as strictly speaking, it is illegal to employ someone without a contract (visa legalities).
While it happens all the time in Dubai without problem, if you have a case where the 'maid' steals anything from you and you report it to the police, then you will find yourself being put in a cell for a few hours, as you will have broken the law yourself.
This has happened to someone I know in Dubai quite recently, so be careful.

Careful admog lest you incur the wrath of others in the forum, interesting case though.

You'll have to scan thru old issues of Gulf News, including letters and such. And well, yesterday there was the story of a girl getting slashed in the face in Diyafah. Tiny tabloids like 7Days don't cover everything, and the letters section, although fun to read, is crowded with crap.

Thought it was in the arm, and it happened in Bur Dubai? No?
Concord wrote:Yes I saw the pictures of the woman with the face scars and headline but did not read the article http://archive.gulfnews.com/articles/07 ... 34573.html . Terrible story.
I am no detective "but I play one on tv". This was done by someone she knew and was angry at her. I say a male who rejected his advances or a former boyfriend. It not a "random" or robbery attack.
p.s. I've been watching too many movies I think. But I bet I am right!
p.s.2. It was not it Satwa.
