It was months that I was thinking to this important issue that why we can not see any minimum speed limit in UAE highways. Reaching with 120KM speed to cars driving 50KM in the last lane of Sheykh Zayed road and have to suddenly push the brakes was a regular event and I am sure it has been source of fo many accidents.
By the way, it seems UAE pilice has decided to apply new rules for minimum speed limit.
However, based on covered signs here and there, I am still worry to see
that the speed limit is not going to be applied to specific lanes and seems that minimum limit is going to be applied for all lanes!
This method is absolutely wrong and I am sure this rule should be changed very soon after some months.
Why? because minimum speed limit should be applied on two or three last lanes in a highway and not all lanes. Cars with lower speeds could use first lanes and drive safely.
So, minimum speed limit should be sensitive to lanes in a highway and should not be applied on all lanes.
This is regular in other countries and when you drive in highways in other countries that mostly follow american driving systems, you can see minimum speed limit signs over last two or three lanes in highways.
By the way, this new signs would be uncovered in a couple of days and we will see that will help reducing accidents but, would be changed, based on my predictions!
