The BEST way forward... when considering emigrating! Apr 23, 2007
Hello Everyone!

My boyfriend and I are planning to emigrate to Dubai and are in the process of looking for work.... which is going well, so far!

I have a question though.....

What is the best way to organise things? I like to know your experience of emigrating. The things to do and the pitfalls.

It seems at this stage that I am to be the first of the two of us to get work.
We have a three year old daughter.

Should we come with me working initially? So my boyfriend can get the home, schooling etc sorted? Or do the employers give you some slack to start with to get things in place?

I am very excited, but also very nervous to get it right.... mainly because of my daughter!

ANY tips welcome!! I feel a bit like a 'rabbit in the headlights at the moment'!

Thank you xx

I suppose you sorted this out somehow, but boyfriend and child with boyfriend are a no-no in the UAE. You can't live with him and your daughther will not get visa if you guys are not married.

Answers to the rest of your queries (and to the above) are contained within this section of the forum. Spend a bid of time reading a lot of the threads and you'll be miles ahead. And head to the municipality to get that marriage license...

good luck.

Are you saying that my daughter of three years of age will not get a visa if me and her father (my boyfriend) are not married??

My boyfriend and I have been together for 10 years, we are engaged and plan to marry.... are you suggesting the best way forward is to marry before we leave for Dubai?

xx :?

yup.

p.s. Even if you get marry you need to consult regarding the status of the child as she was born before the marriage.
p.s2. As I said above check the forum. If I am not mistaken someone else was in the same situation. I don't know how that was resolved
p.s3. You certainly want to do all the paperwork before you leave the UK, etc.
p.s4. I'll send you the bill. Saving you aggrevation is worth a prettypenny!

Have the interview and if all goes well and they need/want you then you just tell them you need more time before you can start, etc. and maybe the employer has faced this kind of thing before (but I would be careful not to mention it to a "non-western" at the employer's just yet). Good luck.

You are very kind! Thanks for the advice xx

AND you're quite right, if I don't get the job, may not be a worry anyway! AND if they want me, then they have to accept me warts and all!
