Bringing Cats To Dubai

Bringing Cats to Dubai Feb 25, 2007
Hope someone can advise me.

I am currently living in the UK and my wife and I have two cats which we adore.

I am in the relatively late stages of interviewing for a job in Dubai and wondered whether someone could advise me on how cats would be accepted in Dubai.

I am aware that they can be bought into the country, but are they as socially acceptable as they are in the UK? They are currently 'outside' cats (that is, they are not kept in) and are free to roam in both my garden and as is nomal, my neighboutrs also. I hope that my package in dubai would enable me to live in a small villa rather than an apartment. Typically, do villa's in dubai have private gardens (that I could confine the cats to)? Would it be safe for them to be allowed outside or would they need to be kept indoors (ignoring the weather) ? Would it be acceptable for them to roam into other peoples gardens (generally - I accept that some people dislike the animals) ?

Any advise, guidance and experiences would be gratefully received.

Thank you

My advise: leave them behind with relatives and adopt a dog or two when you get here. See the post on "general forum".

Just kidding, pets are not a problem in dubai. I know someone who brought 4 cats from Manchester. I am sure the cat lovers in the forum will give you the scoop.
