How much more did you make last year? Feb 19, 2007
With all the recent articles it got me wondering, if you don't mind sharing, how much of a raise if any did you get last year? Did it involve jumping ship (changing jobs). I'm surprised that the average raise was 15%, I would have guessed lower.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Yeah right, in which sectors? I've been here nearly 4 years and never had a raise.

the third link breaks it down by industry, I'd guess the closest to what you would do is Public Relations?? the average for PR was 14.05%

I'm with you though, I'm lucky I did get a pretty good raise last year as my contract came up for renewal but most of the people I know weren't as fortunate that is why I was surprised that the numbers were as high as claimed.

We'll see how everyone else responds in this poll.

Does changing job and getting raise from one country to another country count? Or only within Dubai?

For the last 3 jobs (3 countries), I stayed no more than 12-18 months each. Not because I like moving around (basically I'm loyal), but because the condition were not good or the project was cancelled ;)

Jumping jobs would be the faster way to get a raise and better position/title. But don't jump too much (like me), stay at least 2-3 years first. It's not that good on CV.

By the way, is annual raise common in Dubai? Is it in the govt regulation (say at least same as inflation if any) or only company can decide?
