i have to second that.
Valentine's day sucks...it's so corny and personally i dont see any romance in it ( or it might be that my idea of romance is a bit different)

and besides the best presents i can get r the ones i buy myself 8)

and what's with that idea the u need to buy things to a woman (or a man) to prouve that u care  ???? he can cover u in diamonds and roses on Valentine's day and yet that does not mean he loves u, appreciates u nor is that a sign that he respects u.

Hmm Valentine's Day never was something great for me as no gf. Plus wherever u go u see red colours which is hurt the eye.

I'd rather enjoy a Jd with coke while I play Guns N Roses-Used to love her, Steve Vai - For the love of God, The Killers - While you were young and Hinder-Lips of An Angel, Guns N Roses - Don't Cry.

Forget myself in music!!

bonitta wrote:but its guy's duty to buy presents ...not just on valentine's day..

It's the guys duty to buy presents??? I thought a guy would buy things to show he cares for someone. I didn't know it was an obligation.

Why should a man have to buy things to show his affection for someone?

Love = Money?

bonitta wrote:no I don't think its materialistic...I don't mean diamonds cars and villas...but small presents make the girl realy happy

If presents and things make you happy, thats materialism hon.

bonitta wrote:..not coz she can't buy it byherself, but coz she feels that the guy cares for her..Oh men

Again. How does spending money equal love? It's much deeper that that I would hope.

^ian^ wrote:Every day I have this opportunity... I just don't appreciate being forced into it by societal pressure.

Agreed Ian, Valentine's Day ranks right up there with Christmas on my hatred of commercial holidays. I do not want one single day were i am pushed to show affection for the one that I care about, I want to be able to do it every day.

bonitta wrote:I wish I lived in Middle Ages..when man fighted and died for women's love

So if he's not bankrupting himself buying you presents, he should fight and die for you? I suggest you do some reading on chivalry, it is far far deeper than protecting your loved ones. It had to do with showing utmost respect to the one you car for. Holding a door open, laying your coat in a puddle so that your lady does not get her feet wet, Giving a lady your coat (before you put it in the puddle) if she is cold, Walking on the streets side of a pavement so that your lady is not sprayed by a fast carriage driving through a puddle or covered by someone emptying their bed pan.

That is chivalry, not buying things for your loved one. Besides, Dieing you can only do once, so it's best left for the end of the relationship.

Sorry Bonitta, you put your foot in it on this one.

Her foot in a puddle on the sidewalk created by people emptying their bedpans and not a man's overcoat in sight.

Anyway this is the season of good spirits, I'm sure Jeev's is right she didn't mean to come off quite like how it did.

I'm sure she didn't

I've read through the thread fully not and calmed my "GRRR!!", so I'm sorry if I was harsh.

If I knew how to get it to you bonitta, I would send you an apologetic yellow rose (the symbol of my home state).

I buy flowers because I want to, not because I feel I have to.

I knew I should have bought a florist.

Except today. I wanted to, but 10,000 fag boys with maxed out credit cards forced the delivery price up to 300 dirhams because of 'demand'.

What a load of horseshit... I won't elaborate further.

Yes... it's hard enough trying to find friggin yellow roses without credit card fag boys making things difficult.

I have no idea where I'm going to find them.
