Hey,
is it me or all website are gone crazy taking ages to load !!

Yeah, same here, been slow since yesterday afternoon, in fact last night I couldn't get on to any website, just kept timing out.

Must be down to Global Warming (Everything else is )

No problemo here...things are super fast as usual

It hasnt been working all day for me - none of the usual websites i use open, google would load, but none of the search pages would.

Just tried then, and BANG its all back on again quick as ever.

Strange.

Yup..Its back with a vengence...Faster than ever...

Now everything is ok.......thanks God

We were told that it was a country wide fault with etisalat, seems to be ok now, even though we are not directly with etisalat. This means we get all the rubbish from Du and only the rubbish from etisalat when it's at it's worst.

Ooops looks like someone was trying to tweak the filters (ie. block more stuff) and pressed the wrong button!

Web filter glitch slows down internet service

Dubai: The slow internet service experienced this week stemmed from technical problems over the web filter that blocks inappropriate content throughout the Gulf, UAE's telecom regulator said on Tuesday.

Since Sunday, web users throughout the GCC have endured slow connections and inconsistent service, with some users unable to access mainstream sites like Google or Yahoo.

Mohammad Al Ganem, director-general of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), said early reports suggest a software program became incompatible with the proxy filter.

etisalat officials informed Al Ganem the problem was resolved as of Tuesday afternoon, when telecom operators in the region jointly completed a system upgrade.

Service was wholly unaffected for du's internet subscribers in Dubai's free zones, however, which is not covered by the proxy.

Absolutely correct, it was a tweaking of the filters by Etisalat, what I can't understand is whay would that affect Du (Damned Useless) when they are not censored.

they fixed it , and it's not working again. I cant access hotmail or youtube...

are you guys still having problems with internet in Dubai?. Here in Abu Dhabi we have no access to many websites including hotmail which is very frustrating, not being able to check your email, no even access to gulf news.
Any information on what's going on??

Well, I for one think there should be more chaos, to the point where they realise this filter is only going to cause more headaches in the future.

It isn't required by law... so why is it there?

well Filters will definately cause alot of problems in the beginning 7 months of implementing it, i wish is some other way out of this isp
