Mark II Grande Edition.

Spare parts all over sharjah and ajman,
low maintainence, not sure about insurance + pure sports car.

If you aint looking for sports car, go for a corrolla or a sunny :)

you will get what you are looking for ... japanese technology after all

Yes, and his rich local uncle will register this right-hand-drive car for him in the uncle's name, in Umm Al Quwain no less, because Dubai doesn't allow this car. All this only so he can blow more money on an unreliable left-hand-drive conversion within one year, as per Umm Al Quwain rules.

If you want decent reliability, easy and cheap 2nd hand parts and a bit of style, 90-95 Mercedes is your best bet. Merc went to hell after 1995. BMW parts will cost more money, though not sure how much more. If you don't care about style, you could get a 95-99 Toyota. Cheaper on petrol too.

and what if i get this car passed in Dubai ? With a dubai number plate ??

remove the turbo, boosts from the car and get a service paper from al futtaim.. they will pass this car ( yeah you need to get LHD ) [/quote]

My story is I have a Dubai-reg '87 Supra with 1JZ-GTE twin turbo conversion and no cats. It is original American-spec LHD, so that wasn't an issue. Engine, well, it fails or passes depending on who's checking. Failed Shamil, passed Tasjeel. My buddy has a 1JZ-GTE converted Cressida. That one failed Tasjeel, passed Shamil. But again, original LHD. My other buddy has an Aristo with stock 2JZ-GTE with RHD to LHD conversion, but it remains UAQ reg, and conversion is giving tons of problems.

I hear RHD-to-LHD conversions are instant fails, found out thru paperwork. Anyone know how to sort that out?

guess then will need you a guarentee paper from the company ( al futtaim for toyota )

if you get it rhd to lhd, done from the company, ask them for a guarentee paper for passing.

i have seen and have had similar scene with a friends car in the scene of chassis repair.

Hey man, you are jumping on Chrysler again, hehe. Maintenance could be expensive for an American car. Performance is good enough.

Not to turn this post into a spam-fest, but:

http://www.drivearabia.com/hyundai/#coupe

You should be able to get the weird older previous shape of the car above for 15k easily, but with the same 2.0-litre engine as the new one. Engine specs listed in the link. The old model did not come with V6.
