The perfect Christmas tree is bought. Adorned with ornaments and glittering with tinsel, it stands by the window. The stores are crammed with shoppers hunting for presents and the little ones anxiously waiting for Santa.

Busy with Christmas fever, wonder did you ever, did the Bible or Jesus made any injunction on Christmas ever?

You can easily pick holes and flawed concepts in any of the world's religions esp christianty and islam - when I see one religion doing such to another it is comical sight. The words that come to mind are 'don't throw stones at others when you yourself live in a glass house'.

But is christmas a religious holiday or is it a winter celebration tradition?

Good question.

For some it is a religious event for others its no more then a holiday or a chance to go out shopping.

It is also a merge of lots of different influences and most of it of it traces back to pagan / druid beliefs. The Christmas that we see in the UK has a lot of its roots in the pagan winter solstace of December 21st (first day before the sun starts to return and the days last longer).

It is a religious event/celebration for the birth of Christ. It is a time to be together with one's family, feasting, exchanging presents and spreading of goodwill.

Christmas Celebration differs from country to country, and how they celebrate christmas, and mostly it has been connected to their own cultures and how they see Christ in their lives.

For Catholics, the celebration ends after 3 kings. One should not wait for December to celebrate christmas and spread its meaning. Christmas should always in our heart regardless of which month it is.

In addition to my post earlier, Yes, the real christmas story is mentioned in the christian bible, in two books/gospel - Mathew & Luke chapter 1 & 2.


Christmas from the word Christ - the Messiah or the Anointed One, and Mass is the religious celebration of people who believe in Christ.
