Moving to Sharjah - Need urgent advise Dec 16, 2006
Hi All,

I am offered a job in Sharjah. I will earn monthly 8.500 AED.
The offer also includes 15.000 AED bonus for the first year (for settlement costs) + air tickets + private insurance + incentives

I'm single male. Would that amount be sufficient to have a decent life in Sharjah? And how is the social life in Sharjah? What do the expats generally do for socialising? House parties?

By the way, I would like to know the rental rates in Sharjah for an 1 bedroom apartment with facility i.e. gym or swimming pool..

Thanks in advance for your help...

8.5K for a single male living in Shj is decent salary!! Rents are not as high as dubai generally speaking!!!

But being a single fellow I dont know how easy it would be finding a 1BHK.

I think a few guys on the forum living in Shj would be better at giving you housing answers.

But I think for a 1BHK the rent would be anywhere from 20,000-40,000PA depending on where in Shj you are staying.

But the main thing you should check is the company background, what their policy is on labour issues, are you on an open contract or a fixed one meaning you cant change jobs...

Go thru this section you would find a lot of answers..

Hope it helps and c u soon in UAE..

Cheers

Hi All,

I am offered a job in Sharjah. I will earn monthly 8.500 AED.

Salary is on the lower side to be frank, depends on what kind of lifestyle you want - also depends on the job! Some jobs are paid well and some arent in the UAE.

I'm single male. Would that amount be sufficient to have a decent life in Sharjah? And how is the social life in Sharjah? What do the expats generally do for socialising? House parties?

Again, depends on your expectations. Social life - if youre looking to party, you will obv be going to Dubai. If you you want to chill by corniche, or do cafes/movies, then you can get by in Shj.

By the way, I would like to know the rental rates in Sharjah for an 1 bedroom apartment with facility i.e. gym or swimming pool..
1 Bedroom as per your specs will set you back about 40-45 K per year.

Thanks in advance for your help...
