Don't know about Discover but you can add Diners

As with any country, it depends where you go!

Visa and mastercard everywhere, I can use Amex most places too. Beyond that, only the main expat places seem to take the full range of cards.

Diners only at very few shops, that was quite annoying for me until I had my HSBC VISA card.

i'd say >90% of the places i went to in malls didnt accept Diners...

Discover is not accepted anywhere here ..

Just to add a bit to this thread, Amex I'd say is accepted about half the time. all high end restaurants and the like but medium to lower priced ones and I'd say about 50% of the stores don't accept them.

Because it costs business more to accept Discover than MC or Visa.

Every time you swipe your credit or debit card, the merchant is charged a fee plus a percentage of the total. Over a buck on a $35 charge. It is higher for Discover as discover processes their transactions different than Visa & MC & therefore you have two different ways to do it. merchantaccountsllc . com
