I'm new to this forum. Was reading around this site quite a bit but cudn't find any info on pay scales for a graphic/web designer in Dubai. Cud someone give me any information on this please?

OK, since you asked.

Graphic Designers pay varies from 3000 dh per month to 12,000 dh per month. For 12,000 dh per month you need to be seriously kickass and good, and have decent agency experience.

The most common range is 5k to 8k p.m.

Ian forgot to inform you that pay scale here will depend on your race/nationality/school/university... sorry to say this, discrimination exists in dubai.

whats your local experience? and also experience in India, what platform do you work on? mac,IBM,Windows? which softwares are you good at?

do u work on illustrator,photoshop?

guess i'm kind of late replying...
but I'm only coming over next month in December.. Haven't got any local experience but have been working for 4 years now on mostly print based work.. Spent a year interning with an MNC in Italy. Can work on both mac and pc platforms and am quite good with photoshop, illustrator,in design and also have got intermediate level experience with actionscripting on Flash..

You can get more and it depends on the company also. If you're applying for small time company, how they will pay you more?

That's actually how Southern Asian people survive. Lets say the guy works as a graphic designer and you pay him 2000 p/m. he lives with his family and two other families in a small house and they share everything!!!
even if you offer the guy a lower sallary/500 usd, he wouldn't reject it.

Most people survive in that amount or even less and in fact, they still manage to save and send money to their families backhome.

They accepted the job offer at Dhs2K per month so they have to learn to live with it. They have two choices - take it or leave it - but mostly, they take it.

This is where the problem of pay scale arises. I feel sad about this also. You are competitive but if another applicant accepts the job offer lower than what you're asking, technically you lost the race.

I really feel sorry for those people.

if a guy from the Philippines or Southern Asia accepts those low paid jobs/that makes sense. But how about those who come from Western Europe and North America!!! do you work for that amount of money as well!!!??

If you're coming from europe or those countries you've mentioned, don't come to Dubai for work. There are many reasons why the payscales are like that (one reason is explicit discrimination etc..). Asians most likely to accept the low paying jobs because the equivalent currency is higher compared to what they are earning backhome. I hope that makes sense.

I am not monitoring this site 24/7, i can reply as fast as i can if i am not busy. And part time job allows me to do so till 2am dubai time.

hi there, don't get mad. I was trying to calm down cleo. And i didn't mean anything wrong against you either. What I am trying to say is that you have your own say about the payscale here etc..we'd better let you be and we'll see how far you could go with your standpoint. Any harm with that?
