Dilemma : Yes or No to DUBAI Job Nov 22, 2006
Hi,

I am from India and been offered a job in Dubai with Alpha Data.

The company is providing the following
1) Fixed Salary 8000 AED (Accomadation, local transportation, food to be my expenses and nothing to the company)

2) As i am in sales an incentive of 4000 AED if targets achieved ( So effectively my fixed sal would be 8000 AED)

3) A three year contract and exit clause being 3 months salary if i quit earlier than three years.

4) Also i would be on a visiting visa and on arrival a working visa will be done by the company with in one month.

5) Does Any documents need to be submitted to the company or to the government for visa processing??? (Degree certificates etc)

Please suggest if this is a good deal to live in Dubai. I am single and plan to have a family after a year.

Is this the general procedure for coming into Dubai.

Also with a fixed salary of 8000 AED and all expenses like housing, food, transportation etc have to be taken care by myself..

Please suggest if this is a good opportunity or one which i should drop.....

Everyone's circumstance is different. But if you want to drive a car and rent your own flat (even a studio) you will struggle mightily on that salary. If on the other hand you have a "support network" here: that is, a place to live at a reasonable price (taking into account yearly increases) plus transportation. Then it might be ok.

On balance 8,000 Dirhams will not get you far. If you have a salary in India that pays even half of that you are probably better off staying!

It is all relative at the end. I will suspect that 95+% of the forum members earn more than 8,000 AED per month with the rest earning zero because they do not work!

Good luck.

From my point of view he has lack of initiative, can't prioritise and doesn't seem resourceful. As an employee he wouldn't make the grade, and as an employer his stuff will be back on his door step before you could say "ciao".

You plan to find a soulmate in Dubai and starting making babies?

(1) Finding someone to start a family with here is a big ask.
(2) 8000 dh you're going to struggle to raise said family

If this is your life plan... think very carefully.

That said, it can be done and people do it. You won't live in the flashest of places, you won't drive the flashest of cars... but it's doable, if you want to do it.

Wow! All this from 1 message, unless of course there's PMs etc. I don't know about.

When you've seen thousands upon thousands of resumes you pick up on how to identify which is the sunflower and which is the weed from minimilist info.

Oh I guarantee you I've seen thousands of resumes and CVs, and to be honest I didn't see anything in post that was lacking.

Maybe you're having a bad day :-)

Sometimes you have to look past what is written to see what is not there.

Refer to yorky's post for a clue.

Man come on. Searching is one thing, but sometimes it shows initiative to ask for help.

Nothing irks me more than RTards going "Google is your friend."

Perhaps they did use the search function but didn't find the satisfactory answers.

Who knows, but it's wise not to judge people on 1 post.

Those points might hold true if answers to majority of his questions have not been covered before and that shows more than what one post can ever say.

Call it what you like, given an infinite timeframe, the standard reply for every topic would be "please use the search function" with a grumpy emoticon attached.

If we couldn't answer his questions better not write anything. Sometimes we love to ask questions for second opinion. Hence he has a point and for us to answer his questions. :D
