Why are you in Dubai? Oct 30, 2006
Some people are here becuase:

1. The money is good - compared to where?
2. They stopped-over on their way to... and thought: why not?
3. They followed a relative
4. They followed a lover
5. Their family is from here
6. Their family thought: why not - its close enough
7. They couldn't get hired anywhere else
8. They came for "adventure"
9. They don't have a life plan
10. They don't have a clue.

How about you?

p.s. if your "easy" answer is "1" then - "show us the money".

my mums family is local...so, that is one reason.

the main reason for me though was because of all the places that i have lived, i have felt safer, been happier, and felt like i belonged here in dubai the most.

I'm clueless. I don't have friends & relatives here. I came here all by myself. I came here for money? I don't think so... :( I resigned from my work back home, then the following day i took the flight to dubai and start working for another company. Gosh! that was so fast for me...No break, No transition, No intervals even for a day!

I'm still trying to figure out why so fast. Now, I'm missing home and dying to take a long long vacation.

Well, that is an interesting question..... but easy for me to answer.

My husband was promoted, which entailed a move to Dubai. Sold my business, left our home and children in the states. Good time for us in our lives to make the move. It seems that it was a wonderful opportunity for us, therefore, we jumped on it, and have enjoyed every minute of our time here.

We are very lucky in the fact that we can pick up and go home a couple of times per year to spend time with family, relatives, and friends.

So you came because you resign from your job and had no job. So you applied for a job in Dubai and got the job. Can't understand the "clueslessness".

I think your "answer" was 67 words but it could have been one: money or maybe two - more money.

I got a job offer here and this company process my employment visa right away. I resigned from my job back home without considering much thought.   Of course i gave 30 days noticed to my previous company that i'm leaving, only enough before my grace period as stated in the visa will expire. Impulsive? I think it is. :( Nahh..my second mind is telling me to go.. and so i did and im here.

Why you're here concord

Not "getting at" anything. Just read your first reply (and reasons for it) and then your second (and reasons for it), inconsitent I think.

Read before you post - no doubt you'll be the highest poster one day. In 175bpm spirit here is what you'll get for that acomplishment:

i still dont see how you are saying im being inconsistent.

my father came for a visit...he doesnt live here in dubai. so, since he came here, i cannot leave the house because he will throw a hissy fit.

how is that being inconsistent with my first reason?

It's not in your list and I figure if it was it would be my own personal business.
Being as your asking the question though Concs, why don't you let everyone know why your here other than to hassle Bushra whenever you get the opportunity.

1) Good job opportunity for my husband, which means more responsibility, more power, more interesting work, as well as promotion and more money.
2) Curiosity about the Middle East and desire to live somewhere else in the world before settling down in one of our home countries.

I'd had enough of the place I was living in, and decided it was time for a change. The opportunity came up and I jumped on a plane.

Well, okay, not exactly true. The opportunity came up and four months later I jumped on a plane. Slightly less dramatic . . .

Followed my best friend actually. (not a lover nor a relative but basically falls on the same category)

Also, being very young that time when I moved here - I could say it was for an "adventure" as well. Since I've had enough of it - I'm moving to other place, hopefully by May.

I am here because I have been sent back in time to prevent a disaster occurring that will affect all humanity and life as we know it on this planet.

It all starts here, in this forum, and the ripple effect brings the world to its knees by 2010.

Serious stuff. :!: :!:

Edit: If anyone has the plans to a time machine can you please PM me.
