So long as someone actually knows how to make a decent cuppa. Long life milk and crappy weak teabags are a no no.

What will the environment be like for us non-smokers? Is the place indoors or outdoors? Does the place have good ventilation and can we sit at separate tables if necessary?

Funny real funny..

a tea party for grown ups is where you drink tea and chat..

a tea party for smartd is where you play with dolls, wear pig tails and tug at them :P

Just kiddin' smarts ol' chap! :P

seperate tables? you're alienating us before meeting us? :(

hehe i'm playin'.. yeah I guess you can sit at another table if you want.

Its indoors and i'm a non-smoker too. I'll make sure its in a non-smoking section.

Does this place have good ventilation? Its supposed to be the best indian restaurant in Dubai according to the reviews. I'm sure it won't be in a basement under an ol' shack with bad ventilation :P

and by the way, We're going DUTCH but The TEA is on me. (don't u dare pour it on me :P ) Sice i'm organizing this, and the tea party (yeah yeah it sounds girlish I know, was my idea, the tea will be my treat)

No, I prefer sitting with everyone together, but usually there are only a few non-smokers stuck at one end and the cloud of smoke still makes its way down there. I can't be around a lot of cigarette smoke, so that's why I ask. Hubby and I should be able to come!

Smokers can excuse themselves, go outside and smoke. I'll see if they have a non-smokers section. I'm pretty sure they do :) We're all friends here so we'll take care of ya.

TEA PARTY - A BUST! Nov 04, 2006
Hi,

I would like to thank everyone who pm'd me and got details of the location, time, my number, etc and decided not to show up which by the way was EVERYONE who pm'd me.

2-3 who said they were tentative among the 15, thats fine. Whats embarassing and insulting is that no one had the courtesy to call and inform me that they couldn't make it. For that i'd like to thank you all.

I waited for an hour like a fool, ashamed as well because the manager of the restaurant kept asking me "when will they come?"..

In the end I had to apologize and paid a cancellation fee of AED 200 and left.

Thank you everyone.

(PS.. before anyone makes any smartass remarks based on this post, think about how you would feel if this happened to you)

oh my....that is so horrible and rude! :(
So unfair...you deserve a huge apology from the people who ditched! Don't people have any manners or common courtesy? I am so sorry that you had to deal with that.

I'm so sorry! To be honest, I had forgotten because I forgot to put it into my calendar. My apologies :(

I have to say though, when I host DF events I post a reminder a couple of days in advance to remind everyone about the event and encourage more people to come out. I'm sure the attendance would have been better had people been reminded and new people welcomed closer to the date.

So far this has been the only DF event that didn't have a reminder, and it was the most poorly attended to date. I think there is a correlation...
