Dubai has sold its soul to globalization like few cities have. A glittering capitalist fantasyland has taken shape at the heart of the Arab world. It's a center of international trade, a holiday paradise and a carnival rolled into one.

The only part of your statement that is correct is the the carnival part!

That is how must westerners see the place towel head walking around in fancy dress this 2006 more like a  theme park
As for a holiday paradise must go there once then back to normality and Glorious AMERICA having people shouting at 05.00hrs is not how one would a holiday paradise

Even though i do not necesarily agree with your tone, I do agree that the Middle East owes much to the foreign populations for its growth.

The provided list + Asians have built this region.

No one is denying what foreign pop did for Dubai RV but don't convince me its done for nothing everyone got somthn out of it..last week i met one of the richest Asian families in Dubai..i wont say the name..they had their UAE passports and i know many others did..we are as local a minority in this country, we have 20,000 unemployed graduate. some law's must be set in our favors and I aspect the same from ur home government if i ever lived there(yet some laws also must be changed in ur favor as an expat living here).

As for the nismo..i just wonder how one person can carry some much hatred for every living thing.
I pity you

And I know u will reply calling me names, u don’t know any other way

As i said, i dont agree with his tone. But just wanted to mention he is correct in saying foreign influence built this area.

Regarding jobs, well... in UK, where i got my first ever job, it (the jobs itself) was open to all including foreign students on temp visas.

im surprised about the 20000 unemployed grads, as whenever i see a job post in Abu Dhabi for example, it always seems to end with "Must be an Arab".

With respect,

If you wrote or spoke like that for a job enquiry - you wouldnt make it to the interview stage, regardless of your academia.

Just an innocent question....were u screwed badly when u were a child? or was the screwing when u were much older? lol

Grow up dude....nothing is free these days.....Our country did benefit alot from expats, and no one can deny it, but you got paid for it, and dont deny that OUR cash that brought EXPATS here....its business. You didnt do it for free, and we didn't beg for it, we just waved the dollars ;-)

With regards to college education........don't give me this bull of civilized graduation crap......I have seen many so called "Expats Engineering Consultants" who don't know the ABC of engineering, and whats worse, they actually suck whatever information from the companies, and they compile it in a nice way and hand it over back to us......now what kind of screwed up engineering study is that!! lol

I highly doubt an expat brought from outside the UAE who is already at the title "consultant" with his/her many years experience, and educated at a high quality university abroad, would know nothing about engineering. From my experience, engineering is one field where the education quality is high from institution to institution in the West, for example.

Not really, I am a graduate from the West, and I know what I am talking about, and trust me, not every institution has a high quality of education in Engineering. I once attended a seminar by a Canadian Engineering Consultant, and he surprisingly admitted that there are lots of crooks who call themselves experts in their fields, while they are not, but just cuz of their skin color and their passport, they can pretend to be what they want over here.

And the companies hiring them don't check their credentials and their work history? That seems a bit foolish.

I'm in higher education (though not engineering) and have heard only good things about the quality of engineering programs in the countries I've lived in. Now weak business programs etc. are another issue... :D

Since when do companies here or anywhere look into the credentials of consultants who already work for one of these big engineering consultant companies in europe. Companies here just sign the contract and the rest is left for the consultant companies to choose one of its "consultant employees" to manage the project.

With regards to the Business programs abroad, i find myslef compelled to agree with u

It would appear to be that companies here need ot be more rigorous during their selection process if what you said above is true.

Dude, if the west was so bad at engineering for example, why are they the leaders in the market?
