i got this in an email

NEVER LIGHT a CANDLE in
Airconditioned ROOMS

Prevention is better than cure..

A friend in our group (Aramco, Saudi) passed away last week due to carbon
–monoxide poisoning. It happened when she lighted an aroma therapeutic
candle for the night in a room with Air-conditioner ON .

Due to lack of oxygen in the room, the burning of the candle cannot fully
oxidise & thus form dangerous carbon monoxide.

Carbon monoxide will prevent oxygen exchange in the lungs, resulting in the
person dozing-off into a state of unconsciousness & eventually death in
less than an hour, depending on the room size.

This email is to make you aware of such danger when lighting aroma
therapeutic candles in any un-ventilated rooms.

Please forward this e-mail to all your loved ones and friends.

A candle,

The room would have had to be completely air tight, I don't think so.

this is true for 'SCENTED' candles, methinks.

But maybe that's only true for re-circulated air. AC's that suck in fresh air from the outside and then cool it should be ok.

I am telling you this could only be possible if the room was completely air tight, the amount of oxygen a candle burns would easliy be replaced under doors, leaky windows, ducts are not airtight etc.
