Flashed by radar... Sep 28, 2006
Hi,
On Sunday I was caught by radar (I saw the flash) on the way to Al Ain and then again on the way back to Abu Dhabi. :(
I was also flashed a few weeks ago on the 17th on the DXB-AUH highway.

I've been checking for fines, but nothing has come up yet via sms or the dubai police website.
My question is are the fines sent via computer automatically to the police systems, or are they manually collected every week/month and then will I see the fines?

Was i lucky? Did it just flash without film/ or was the film full? :) :)

Thanks!

your probably going to have to still pay. it usually takes a while before the fines show up on the dubai police website or anything else....

For fines in the city, they come up immediately. Atleast for me they did last year. I was bored and checking online. I saw one that i got jsut a few hours previously!!

I'll have fun, thanks. :P

I think you will find it merely depends on when they check the Cameras, I doubt if they are yet to centralise them on a common data base.
Try using your Cruise Control if you have it, seems like 2 shots on one trip is a real waste of money.

Another answer is:

get a Radar Detector!

Sometimes, the flash goes off but there is no more film/space for the image to upload.

This happened to me on the Al Ain road as well and i was *cough* within the speed limit *cough* but i never got a fine.

Not sure how much it costs, but I check all the cars weekly on 4488. I keep encountering a mobile either to or from work on a daily basis and he's a sneaky buggar as he hides it behind bushes in the central reservation! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

ineedacoolnick remember that Al Ain would be AD police jurisdiction so it would have to be passed on to Dubai Police (i am assuming you have a Dubai registered car) so it will take more time than when you get a ticket in dubai.

But as yorky said sometimes its full and even if it flashes you wont get a ticket .. good luck !

BTW yorky, how is that radar detector doin ? ;)
