Can someone chech around and confirm this? NY eve dry?? Anyway, Ive planned a private party so doesnt affect me... but still, what a night to be "dry" hehe...

This can only be known for sure at the end of Ramadan, I believe the last day of Ramadan will fix the dates of the 2 eid holidays.

Sage and & Onion is correct however it wont get fixed at this eid it will get fixed 10 days before when the month of Hajj starts. If new years eve happens to be the same as "Arafat day" eve (most important day of the Hajj season and one day before Eid) then i guess it will be dry.

I trust that the Saudi sheikhs will make sure this doesnt happen though hahaha

I thought the second eid was a fixed number of days from the first eid??, I had read that somewhere, could be wrong though.

It shouldn't be. This is what friends and I were discussing the other day. The first day of Ramadan was expected to be called on the 24th September, everyone expected it to be then, but when it came on the 23rd, everyone said is was called then to avoid New Years being dry. Not one to be a cynic, but I should imagine New Years being dry would totally kill the tourist industry here.

That's pretty sad if people can't celebrate the New Year without booze. Would it really kill people to do that for one year?

sorry dudes, but i think im gonna be flamed after saying this but.....

why do you need booze to have fun? especially in new years?

the best thing in new years is to gather your friends, go to the desert. Bon fire, music, tents (sleeping ones), sheesha, friends, grills and the cold weathers makes it a great day for me. Ive been doing this for 2 years now and it never gets dull

but anyways thats me ;)

I don't think that either, but sadly economically speaking, it's a big business night.

i found when the sheik passed away after ramadan to be a challenging time with the no entertainment.
Still thats the fun of working in another country different from your own
