Job offer in Dubai Sep 26, 2006
Hi there, wow I'm so pleased I found this Website.
I have read as much as I could around this topic but as most of you know every sitituation is different. So I would like your advice on the following package my partner has been offered.

We are both Australian and travelling on Australian passports (i've noticed that this can make a difference) Can anyone explain that????

He has been offered a job as a Health and Safety Manager on a Construction site. The following figures are monthly ones in Dirum
Base Salary 22,000
Car 3,000
Partuity 1,283
Accomodation 10,000 but i think there was some talk of the company leaseing something
Fuel 300
water/electricy 750
telephone 250.00
Health 1,361.00
Airfares 8,400 per year
Bonus performance 1,833

We like to live our lifes and socialise and eat out alot, we really need to save alot of money for we have many expenses here.

So any comments about the package????? Is it comparable to other Health and Safety Positions

How do you go about sending money home and not paying tax on it???

Do we have to get married before we go or can he accept a package with a partner and still get the martial benefits????

What is the difference between Qatar and Dubai to live in ????? Is Qatar like Dubai???

Thanks in advance :D

The basic difference is one of colour!!!!And i do not mean to sound racist...But here if you have a fairer skintone you command a better pay etc...etc.....

The salary you speak of is a decent salary to start with......

That is going to be a touch call.....Rules are changing here and it is becoming very difficult to send money!!!!Though you can still use the HAWALA method....

AND YOU MOST DEF HAVE TO ME MARRIED....DO NOT FORGET THIS IS A MUSLIM COUNTRY!!!!Though Dubai is liberal in sense that these laws are not strictly enforced......

No Qatar is nothing like Dubai!!!!DUBAI is way better in all terms....

Cheers

P.S - Welcome to DF

Thanks for the warm welcome and info

Are the salaries they set in these packages concrete or do they provide lee way for negociation... it is like Aus where where you keep two and throwing until you reach comprise ...........

What is the Hawala method???? probably sounds naive but have no clue...

So do you think Qatar is a no go or just not advanced.... would love some comments about this.... What makes Dubai better ......

Guess we had better bring our Wedding forward

Thanks again devilsdiciple

He has been offered a job as a Health and Safety Manager on a Construction site. The following figures are monthly ones in Dirum Dirhams
Base Salary 22,000 Not bad for starters, what are your working hours?
Car 3,000 4 year car loan could buy you one of the cheaper 4 x 4
Gratuity 1,283
Accomodation 10,000 but i think there was some talk of the company leaseing something Is this per month or per year?
Fuel 300 Depends on the vehicle, I don't drive so much but fuel for me is approx. 900 per month (3.8l Paj)
water/electricy 750 Reasonable for an apartment
telephone 250.00 Would be up to you depending on use
Health 1,361.00 Is this an international insurance cover, if so check the conditions
Airfares 8,400 per year Once per year for 2 people
Bonus performance 1,833 Is this fixed or will it be a percentage

We like to live our lifes and socialise and eat out alot, we really need to save alot of money for we have many expenses here. You should at least learn to cook then, eating out a lot can be expensive especially if you drink

So any comments about the package????? Is it comparable to other Health and Safety Positions

How do you go about sending money home and not paying tax on it??? Have no idea what your tax laws are in Australia, from here absolutely no problem to remit money at the moment

Do we have to get married before we go or can he accept a package with a partner and still get the martial benefits???? You need to be married here if you are going to live together, also without a marriage certificate you cannot sponsor your partner for a residence permit. Legally speaking it is strictly against the law to live with a person of the opposite sex who is not family or your wife.

What is the difference between Qatar and Dubai to live in ????? Is Qatar like Dubai??? Qatar is way behind Dubai and not the best place to go in the middle East, especially if its your first time.

Thanks in advance :D

Hope this helps
