I'll be in singapure for 2-1/2 "free" days in Mid October.

Staying at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront. Any suggestions?

That's not the most convenient place to be Cons. You will be relying on pretty much taxis to get you around. The only good things are that 'Zook' is just a walk down the road, Boat Quay and Clarke Quay are within 'walking' distance so night time entertainment will be taken care of.

Suggestions on where to go and what to do really depends on what you want to experience.

Well, Frankly I know nothing about Singapure and would like to see things that are unique to Singapore, if possible.

By way of example, if someone wanted come to Dubai to see things that are "unique to dubia" here is what I would suggest for a 2-1/2 day trip.

Day 1: Go to the Dubai Museum (they did a nice job for a small museum), go to the creeks edge and take an Abra to the Deira Side, walk around a bit, see the gold souk and spice sook. Come back to Bur Dubai and go to lunch or dinner at Bastakia. May want to arrange a city tour on the double decker bus tour.

Day 2. Go on a "Desert Safari Tour/Dune Bashing" Arabian Adventures is good. They'll pick you up at the Hotel around 4 pm. During the day and unless you are from Tokyo (or perhaps anothr city) check out the ski slope at the Emirates mall. If you would like have tea at the Burj Al Arab. Select 2:pm and have Arabian Ranches pick you up from there!

Remaining 1/2 day. Go to the Jumeirah Mosque. If you want go to Jumeirah beach if not for anything else just to see the sand and gulf.
Go back to airport.

I think the above would be "uniquely" Dubai. Any thing similarly Singapore?

This would be for a person not looking for beaches, clubs, bars, restaurants (plenty of good restaurants where home is as well as dubai). In my neighborhood back home we actually have a Tiger beer and chilly crab festival every summer...

Okay, The Singapore Tourism Authority is currently running some promotions so when u get to the airport look for the "Uniquely Singapore" tourist counters and u can sign up for a free half day tour of Singapore and this will give u a good run down of the "city".

Singapore is not really a culturally "rich" place with food and shopping being its main attractions. Having said that the Singapore Zoo is a great place to spend half a day. Sentosa island is also worth half a day and spend the rest of your time checking out local cuisines and its surroundings.

definately check out east coast jumbo seafood resturant...for the best chilli crabs in town...and also SENTOSA theme park can actually take care of the whole day if you like...and in the evening there is the NIGHT SAFARI...which is quite nice...and if you are up for a bit of fine cousine...then definately check out HALIA at the botanical gardens and Devonshire Bar and Grill at river valley road...also Mhd Sultan road is great for bar hopping on a more laid back scale...
